Minstrel Show Proceeds To Aid Needy Families .Nearly 200 local people will com bine their talents in the presenta tion of the Klks club's annual minstrel show Dec. 14, 15 and IS at the junior high auditorium. Proceeds from the event are to be used to sponsor parties in Rose burg's three theaters Dec. 23 for the kiddies and to provide food baskets for needy familiea. The show is directed by Robert Barrows of Geller productions, Hollywood. Scenery and costumes are by Geller. Another performance, Dec. 13, Is a special student snow, whicn will get underway at 7:30. The other three shows start at S p.m. The first act of the two act event is entitled "The Gay Nine lies" and has 12 scenes, including singing waiters of the barber shop variety, and a full four - act old fashioned melodrama called "Her Double Life, or The Curse of a Greedy Heart." Acts of the melo drama are interspersed with dif ferent song and d:ince routines. The acts are timed at one hour and 15 minutes each. - A full stage chorus of 60 people take over in the second act and their part of the show is along traditional minstrel lines with blackface routines, songs, jokes and dances. Bloodmobile's Visit To Douglas County Slated The first visit of the Red Cross bloodmobile is scheduled for Doug las county on Jan. 23, it was an nounced today by Mrs. R. E. Her man, secretary of the local Red Cross chapter. Two hundred pints of whole Mood will be requested from Doug las county donors on this visit. In order to facilitate the col lecting of this much whole blood for this and future visits of the bloodmobile, approximately 50 vol unteer helpers will be needed, including eight Grey I.ad'es or hostess, seven staff aides, (five must be typists) nine nurses or nurses' aides and six canteeners. Because of absenteeism or illness, it is necessary to have alternates trained to cover these positions. A special meeting Monday, Dec. 16, at 3 p m., will make plans for the bloodmobile visit. The Red Cross board members, represent atives from local hospitals and tha medical sociation will be pres ent. I-ocai residents who are in terested in the program are also invited to attend. "In view of the urg.it demand for whole blood, the recruitment of volunteer as sistants for the bloodmobile visit is essential." said Mrs. Herman.
