Ward, Lumberman, Dies Arthur Inland Ward, 48, 'owner of the Ward Lumber Co., Roseburg, died Monday, Oct. 18, after a short illness. He was horn April 28. 1901, in Tecumseh, Okla., and came to Oregon four years ago to make his home. He was a veteran of World Wars 1 and 11 and a mem ber of the American legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wara and of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Masonic lodge of Oakland. Surviving are the widow, Mar garete, Roseburg; his mother, Mrs. Lillie Likowski, Weleetka, Okla.; a atepson, ( apt. Wm. F. Ilulchins, Hamilton Air base, San Francisco; a brother, William Ward, Henry etta, Okla.; four half-brothers, George, Harrv and llcnrv Likow ski, all of Weleetka, Okla., and Herman Likowski, San Fransicso; a sister, Mrs. May Lester. Borger, Texas; a half-sister. Mrs. Ida Crawford, Weleetka, Okla., and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held in The Chapel of the Roses, Rose burg Funeral home. Thursday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. with Rev. W. A. Mac Arthur officiating. Vault interment will follow in the Veterans ceme tery with full military honors under the auspices of the American Legion. Pearson urges all vot ers to aitpport the State Board of Higher Education bond measure at the November election. Pearson said the bill would save the taxpayers SI .200,000. He explained that the bill would let the board call in ita revenue bonds and replace them with gen eral obligation bonds which would bear a much lower interest rate. The measure, Pearson explained, doesn't give the board any more powers to borrow money.
