The Yoncalla grade school has been remodeled. Redecorating was done by Luther Daugherty, assis ted by Al HoHman. Other improvements to the schools include leveling of the new football field and the baseball field, graveling of the parking space in front of the new high school and improvements to a road leading from the top of the hill to the highway. Several new teachers will be on duty in both of the grade and high schools. Masons' Outdoor Meet Dated At Crater Lake The second annual outdoors meeting of Crater Lake lodge No. 211, A.F.A.M., will be held at Crater Lake park Saturday, Aug. 19, at 2:30 p.m. The Master Mason degree will be conferred at the meeting. The meeting will probably be in the vicinity of Annie Springs junction, according to James Pat terson, co-chairman, of Klamath tails. 1 Master Masons have been in vited. The lower picture shows clearing work in the early siages. The Federal Bureau of Public Roads is financing the project at a cost of aooroximatelv Sl.800.000. The road section, scheduled for completion early next summer, covers a -mile stretch. There remains another 4'i mile strip to cost nearly si,vuu,uuu oetween this new section and Canyonville. A contract for this work is scheduled to be let at a later date. The highway follows the general course of the old road, but is being straightened so that the only curves are very gradual and are those that must follow the general contour of the canyon. The grade will be gradual. The highway will De two wide lanes, with four lanes where necessary to provide tor passing ot slow traiuc. The rugged canyon mountain area proved one of the greatest obstacles the pioneers faced in making their way into the Ump qua and Willamette valleys. But with the coming of trans' portation improvements also comes sacrifices sacrifices the motoring public has for the most part been willing to accept. The sacrifice is scenic beauty. The course of Canyon creek has, of necessity, been almost entirely changed. Trees and bushes which shaded the highway have been cleared away to make way for the highway right-of-way. The walls of the canyon's side have been sheared off smooth to elim inate the dangers of slides. Picnic areas in the lower can yon will be somewhat destroyed, but it is understood some effort will be made by the federal gov ernment to restore picnic sites. City's July Bills ! The state health board's bureau of vital statistics reported that in tne tirst six months of the year there were 2662 divorces compared with 4619 marriages a divorce for every two marriages. mat s not new either. N. Busenbsrk. Boyd died testate April 8, 1950. The estate consists principally of cash, savings, stocks and bonds valued at approximately $30,000 and real property at about $5,000. Judge Busenbark appointed Ivan Pickens as executor and F. G. Stewart, Earl Benedict and H. E. Schmccr as executors, as specified in the will. Judge Busenbark issued another order appointing Carl M. Felkcr as administrator of the Benjamin Frederick Warner estate. Warner died intestate in San Diego, Calif., Dec. 16, 1949. G. V. Wimberly was appointed appraiser.
