The auair was held Wednesday evening at Ump qua park. Mr. and Mrs. Cameron and daughter are leaving for Texas to make their home. Following the picnic hour the group returned to the church for the prayer meeting 4-H JOLLY NINE HOLDS DEMONSTRATION MEETING ON FRUITS, VEGETABLES A demonstration on making to mato juice was given by Carmen Cooper and Margie Hanson dis cussed canning fruita and veget ables at the Jolly Nine meeting July 20 at the home of Donna Sund berg. Mrs. Zelmi Sand, local lead er was in charge. Carmen Cooper and Sally Brown led the songs and yells Donna Sundberg was in charge of the bus iness meeting. Mrs. O. L. Torry Monday evening. The group ' continued plans for the show which is open to all interested flower growers. 'Ik . w ... ..A One-Dish Oven Meal Suggested Mr. and Mrs. Julian Thiele Mr and Mrs. Julian Thiele of Yoncalla observed their golden wedding at their home Sunday, July 9 with an open house to their friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Thiele were married July 8, 1900 on the farm of Mrs. Thiele's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jones at Red Hill. Resides the honored couple; four of the original wedding guests were present for the occasion; Mrs. Ida Bray of Redmond; Mrs. Myra Cas ter of Mulino, Ore; Mrs. I.u Starr of Coquille and Mrs. Dunaway of Reedsport. Mr. and Mrs. Thiele received many gifts from their friends. A large three-tiered cake, topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom was cut and served during the afternoon. To make cer tain your one-dish meal has eoough nutritive value and flavor appeal, add cheese and milk to the other ingredients. All dairy foods, now in abundant supply, are rich in essential food values. Eggplant Parmesan (Sirvtt ) Tomato Sauct: Four tablespoons butter, 1 onion chopped fine, cup chopped celery, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, 1 small bay leaf, V teaspoon thyme, Vi tablespoon flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, 4 cups tomatoes, 1 can tomato paste 16 ounces), salt and pepper to taste, 1 basil leaf. Melt butter in skillet. Add onion, celery, parsley, bayleaf, and thyme. Cook until onion is trans parent. Stir in flour and sugar and blend until smooth. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, pepper and ba sil leaf. Cook, tightly covered, for 60 minutes over low heat. Eggplant: One large eggplant, Peel eggplant. Slice in very thin strips. Fry in butter until golden brown. To combine: Fried eggplant, cooked tomatoe sauce, slices of American cheese, grated Parme san cheese. Place eggplant in glass casserole dish alternately with layers of slic ed cheese and tomato sauce. Top eenerouslv with grated cheese. Bake 15 to 20 minutes in moder ate oven (375 degrees F.). This one-dish meal also adds cheese, one of the most popular dairy foods, to build up protein value. Ham and Cheese Fondue One small onion, chopped fine; 2 tablespoons butter, 1 cup cubed ham. 2 cups grated Cheddar cheese. 10 slices bread, cubed; 3 eggs, 2Mi cups milk, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, .- teasnoon 'dry mustard, 1 teaspoon salt, I teaspoon pepper. Brown chopped onion In butter. (Combine ham and cheese, brown Union and bread cubes. Place in Ihntiereri 2-auart casserole.
