Ov er Sunday and Monday the Rose burg family took the visitors on a trip to Crater Lake and then through the Redwoods to Cres cent City, Calif., where Dr. J. M. Boyles went on to San Francisco to attend the American Medical association meeting. He will be back in his office in the' Pacific building Friday, June 30. The Illinois visitors are now en route back to Illinois. They are making .the trip by automobile. In Portland Dr. L. M. Hamlin Is Sent To Pott In Ecuador ' WASHINGTON, June 27 The state department has announced assignment of John Nellis Ham lin, foreign service officer from Portland, to Ecuador as first sec retary and consul at the United States embassy in Quito. Hamlin has been stationed In Singapore as United States con sul. He is a native of Roseburg, but moved as a youth to Port land, where he attended high school before going to the Uni versity of Oregon. He left the university to enter the army during World War I. He was commissioned in the for eign service in 1924 and has since served In Tirana, Albania; Buenos Aires, Naples, Washing ton, Seville and Singapore.
