Hospital Aides To Receive Diplomas A graduation ceremony will be held for 27 hospital neuroptychiat rie aides at the Roseburg Veter ans hotpital in the recreation build ing at 7:30 o'clock tonight. Diplo mat are presented to those em ployees who are performing actual car of patients when they have completed th training course pre scribed by the Veterans adminis tration. This course is given by the nursing service and includes lectures by the medical staff of the hospital, classroom projects, and ward technique demonstrations. An appropriate program has eeen arranged for the occasion with Dr. John L. Haskins. mana ger of the hospital, presenting the certificates. Charles Pierson Jr., of Atlanta, commercial supervisor for th company, said mora slugs were dropped in pay stations in Miami than any other Florida city. Phoney quarters cost th biggest loss. He said 53,203 lead quarters cott the company $13,300. During the year the company found 65,984 tlugs of which 1,069 were nickel slugs and 4,712 war apuriout dimes. Homemakers Festival Will Be Held In Roseburg Speakers, group tinging, apecial mutic and display of work don will b featured at th Homemak art' festival in Roseburg oa Fri day, May S, at th Methoditt church. All bom extension units in Doug las county are taking part in the program and displays. Homemakera who have never taken part in extension work are especially invited to attend the festival and se what is being don by women over the, county. There is no charg. Th morning program begins with registration at 10 o'clock day light saving lime. Speakers will be Mrt. May Matthews, Roseburg school lunch coordinator, who will speak on "Homemaking in Korea," and Mrs. K. Ethel Lathrop. Central Point, whose topic is "Women-World-Wide Homemakert." Other pant of the program in clude musical numbers from the senior high school quartet, a salad making demonstration by mem bers of a 4-H cooking club, a skit by members of the Gunler home extension unit and group singing. Samplea of work done in the DouRlas county home extension units are on display in the win dows of Carttent Furniture and Roseburg Electric. These articlet will be moved Friday to th Methoditt church for the Homemakera Festival, where large displays of work are being arranged. Choir To Hoard Horo Thursday The choir of the Southern Oregon College of Education, Ashland, will be featured at a Roteburg senior high school assembly Thursday at l.ii p.m., aenior high Principal Georg Erickson said today. Other events in the high school this week will include a declama tion or inter-class speech contest Friday, beginning at 11:05 a.m. Youngsters Plant Fish ASHLAND, A hundred Ashland youngsters turned out glee fully Saturday to aid in the plant ing of rainbow trout in Lithia park. Th creek in the park it limited to anglera under 14 years of age Cole River, Grants Pass agent for the State Game commission, brought 1.000 fish from the Butte Falls hatchery. The youngsters as sisted him in transferring trout from the truck to the creek, using buckets. skin care supplies, and dress forms will be displayed.
