Roy Wells, operator of the Glide general store underwent a major operation Tuesday at Mercy hospi tal and is reported progressing well. The Glide Parent-Teacher as sociation will hold a special meeting Monday, April 17, at 2 p.m. for the purpose of electing officers. The club is troubled by the unusual di lemma of no member willing to accept the presidency of the group. All members are being urged to be present for the Monday meeting. MARIJUANA MISTAKI LOS ANGELES P Nobody was more surprised than Rudolpho Laue, he told the judge, wnen we birdseed he scattered for his ca nary grew up to become Mari juana. Laue said he bought the seed in a market, put it among cactus plants he kept in pots at borne. The canary, which he allowed to fly about the house, apparently didn't find very many of them. Police said when they looked in all they saw was Marijuana plants. Laue, 23. tearfully told the court he didn't know a Marijuana from a tobacco leaf. The court acquitted him of a charge of possessing Mar ijuana, but told turn henceforth to be more careful of his birdseed. McGrath, D D , bishop of Baker City, died Wednes day at the age of 79. His death, which came after a three-week illness, followed by less than two weeks that of the Most Rev. Leo Fabian Fahey, bishop co adjutor of the Roman Catholic Baker City diocese. Bishop McGrath was Installed bishop in the Cathedral of St. Fran cis De Sales here on April 1, 1919. He wss a native of Ireland.
