Sandra, for mer resident of Roseburg. are visiting at the home of Mn. Mo Coy'i parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vin cent Freschern of Melrose. They have been residing at Freeport, 111., for the past four years, where Mr. McCoy has been operating grocery stores. Mrs. McCoy is the former Bertha Presrhern. Before moving to Freeport, McCoy was I government meat inspector. The couple will make their home here How. . Mr. and Mrs. Fred Becker and "daughter visited friends in Eugene Feb. 28. . , Mr. George H. Taltt, Portland, Is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Aydelott. James Bury, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tjomsland, is in a hospital in Eureka, Calif., after being hit by a car. Mr. Ernest Kettleman was taken to Eugene Wednesday by her hus band where she entered a hospital for medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Manning and daughters, Carol and Claud ette, enjoyed a trip to the coast and as far as Newport recently. They reported stormy weather. Mr. Arthur Herrman underwent a major operation at Mercy hos pital Thursday, The county road workmen have started construction of a new bridge to replace the old one across Champagne creek at Mel rose. The present bridge was built in 1932. Mrs. Walter Kruse was honored on her birthday last week when Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Conn and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith called at her home. The evening was spent playing cards. Dillard J. W. Stoner and daughter and family and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Evans and three small boys from Shclton, Wash, visited S t o n e r'l mother, Mrs. Mary Stoner, of I,ookingglass and sister Mrs. Lee Barnes, and family in Dillard. They report eight inches of snow in their yard yet in Washington. In contrast, Mrs. Lee Barnes re ports her rare; camelias, prim roses and bulbs burst into full bloom these last few days. Mrs. J. E. Evans entertained her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. David Babb, of Deer Park, Wash, for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Milford P. Little of Brockway have returned from Los Angeles, and Glendale, Calif., and report a grand trip. Little has procured employment there and they expect to sell their home place and move down there right away. They moved to this vicinity from Los Angeles four years ago. Mr. ana Mrs. u. Davidson and three children have moved to Dillard from Finn Rock, on the Mc Kenzie river. He is the brother of Mason Davidson and an old time resident of this community. Their two children, Keilh and Karol Lee, are attending Dillard school. Me lody Sue is just three. Two older children are attending Blue River school and residing with Mrs. Da vidson's parents and will come down when school is out. Rupert Davidson, a resident of this community for 30 years, who moved tn Sutherlin a year ago, was in Dillard visiting at the home of his son and daughter-in law Mr. and Mrs,. Mason David son last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ivar Lindstrom of Dillard received the news of the birth of a new grandson born Feb. 28, u their daughter and son-in-law Mr.and Mrs. Ray L. Smith of Ashland, named James Loren. Ray Smith formerly worked a t Hull's Dillard mill but is now attending pre-dcntal school at Ash land. He is the son of Grant Smith, now residing in Dillard. The Dillard Tenmile Winston youth held their monthly roller skating party Friday night at the Holleta rink in Roseburg. They hold the record of having the largest reserved night at the rink this year. They were sponsored by Rev. W. W. Appleyard and driven there in the school bus by Jess Nelson. They were also accompan ied there by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Miller, and Mr. and Mrs. Wells. Mrs. Eva I.akey, Mrs. Isme Vance Mr. and Mrs. Everett Haumeser, Mr. Oscar Amundson. Jr. Elmer Hunter, Mrs. Cora Evans, Mrs. Walter Middlestadt, Mr. and Mn. Lee Mahoney. Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Shockley drove to Coos Bay last Sunday and visited Mrs. Shockley's aunt, Mrs. Edna Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cooper of Dillard were surprised Saturday morning when their eldest grand son Jimmy Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Clark of Coquille, arriv ed here enroute to his home for a ten-day leave. He is a hospital corpsman in the medical laborat ory of the navy, atationed in Long Beach. Calif. Mr. Gordon Mead of Eugene has been the house guest of her aunt Mrs. O.. D. McAllister of Dillard for the last week. A large delegation of the Dillard church attended the turkey dinner at Hie. Tenmile community hall Friday night, Feb. 24. Those at tending from Dillard were: Rev. and Mrs. Appleyard, Mrs. Myrtle Burtch, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Golgert. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barnes, Don and Neil Golgert, Mrs. Belle Haumeser and Marilyn and Bob bie, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Barnes and Carol Sue and Judy, Don Carnrs, and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Siegel, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Mckean. Mrs. Jack Taylor left last Sun day for Ranger, Texas, where she will join her husband who has ob tained work there. Mrs. Taylor has been employed the last few months at the telepnone ofuce in Yoncalla burg last Tuesday. The project under training for the day was "freeiing prepared foods.". Mrs. Rice and Mrs. Churchill will be in charge of this project in their own unit April 14. Lookingglass By HAZEL S. MARSH Mrs. Clare Meredith, who enter ed Mercy hospital Tuesday for sur gery, is reported to be improving and able to receive visitors. Mr. and Mrs. John Kerr have returned to the valley after several months absence. They are living in the little cottage vacated in the fall by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Patter- Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harkness of son and children, when Mr. Patter- the firm's Portland store. Mrs. Roy Buel! left Sunday for Walla Walla, Wash., where she will visit in the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Bohlman, nee Beverly Buel. Mrs. Bohlman un derwent an operation recently and is still confined at the hospital. F. R. Vance of Eugene spent Wednesday at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Vance. He was accom panied home by his mother, Mrs. D. C. Vance, who will visit in Eugene for several weeks. Miss Lois Swift, Miss Lorraine Jacoby, Don Harmer and Otis Hel man canvassed the vslley Thurs-l day in behalf of the youth fellow- snip group, iney reported good success and a ready response to the program of stationery and gift card sales the group is sponsoring to secure funds for the purchase , of chairs for the choir loft in the church.
