Buker of Hansen, Ida., at 8 o'clock the evening of Sept, 10 at the Nazarene church with 150 relatives and friends in attendance. Rev. F. Hill per formed the ceremony. The bride was lovely In a gown of white satin trimmed in seed pearls. Her veil was fingertip in length and she carried a white Bible topped with a spray of gladioli blossoms. Laverene Lindley, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and FRIENDLY CIRCLE CLUB HAS DELIGHTFUL MEETING IT HOME OF MRS. MILLS Mrs. William Mills was a most rracious hostess to the Friendly Circle club at her home on North Stephens street Wednesday aft ernoon. Fall crocus formed the ittractive motif for' the serving table. The club voted a donation to the polio emergency fund. Polly- nna gifts were exchanged and Mrs. Ivan Edwards was welcom ed as a new member. Others en- ioving the afternoon with Mrs. tills and sons, Billy and Donnie, were: Mrs. Nan Hulburt, Mrs. Grace Bowen, Mrs. Margaret Pfaff, Mrs. Lena Pfaff. Mrs. Ella Moore, Mrs. June Stiltner, Mis. Ruth Reese, Iva Mae Edwards, Neva Pfaff, Allison Pfaff and Glenda Beach. The door prize was won by Mrs. Hulburt with game prizes going to Grace Bowen and Mar garet Pfaff. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess at the tea hour. The next meeting will be the afternoon of October 12 at the home of Mrs. Ginger Howard in Cloverdale Park. MRS. M. C. SMITH ENTERTAINS GROUP TO ORGANIZE NEW CLUB A meeting was held at the love ly home of Mrs. M. C. Smith in Cloverdale Park Wednesday aft ernoon to organize a Roseburg branch of the Lazy Daisy Sew ing club of McMinnville. Officers elected were president, Mrs. A. F. Mitchell; vice-president, Mrs. Leo Wilkerson. and financial secretary, Mrs. E. E. Lyda Jr. A delicious luncheon was serv ed bv Mrs. Smith to Mrs. Floyd Otterson, Mrs. L. W. Pittam, Mrs. Monty Glover, Mrs. Leo Wil kerson. Mrs. A. F. Mitchell, Mrs. Bill Weaver and Mrs. E. E. Lyda Jr. The meetings will be held twice a month, the first Thursday to be an all-day affair with a pot luck luncheon at noon and the third Thursday to be an after noon meeting. The club will meet for an all day affair with a potluck lunch eon at noon October 6 at the home of Mrs. E. E. Lyda Jr., on Sunset Lane. MEETING HELD AT MCCORO HOME TO PLAN COMMUNITY PROGRAMS A group of room mothers and some officers from the Dillard school met Wednesday for a pot luck luncheon at the home o f Mrs. Margaret McCord to make plans for entertainments to be field in the future at the school and for the community. WILKERSON ENTERTAIN AT DINNER PARTY HONORING BIRTHDAY Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wilkerson entertained at a delightful birth day dinner at their home Sun day In honor of the latter and also to honor Mrs. Floyd Otter ton. Buker wore a blue formal and carried white gladioli. Ernestine Rowley, cousin of the bride, Agnes Hoi comb and Rosalie Holcomb (the latter, a sister of the bridegroom) were bridesmaids and Gerry and Jimmy Lindley, sister and broth er of the bride, lighted the can dles. Jim Easterly was best man. Patty Rowley and Carlo Parker, flower girls, were gowned in yellow. David Weaver, Vincent Holcomb and Willis Miller were ushers. Hartford and Cecil Jr., Victor, Berneta and David Hartford. POTLUCK LUNCHEON IS ENJOYED BY TENMILE LADIES CLUB WEDNESDAY The Tenmile Ladies club met Wednesday at the church for a potluck luncheon. Bette Dick over, vice president, conducted the meeting in the absence of the president. The secretary re ported the penny supper held Sept. 23, was a huge success. A quilt was presented to Mr. Wol bert of Roseburg. Plans were made to entertain the Dillard club ladies at t h e next meeting to be held Wednes day, October 12. at the new club house. Everyone is urged to at tend to give the visiting club members a real welcome. Mem bers are asked to bring either a covered dish, vegetable or a sal ad and dessert, also their own table service and an extra one for a guest. Luncheon will b e served at noon. FRIENDLY HOUR CLUB HAS DELIGHTFUL MEETING WEDNESDAY The Friendly Hour club held a delightful all-day meeting of sew ing, textile painting and prepara tions for the bazaar Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Grace Fenn. Plans were also made to hold a food sale at the Melrose store and for a booth at the Camp Fire girls carnival to be held at the Grange hall Sept. 30. A potluck luncheon was served at noon to Myrtle Spicer and Ber tha Farman, guests, and the fol lowing members: Katie Conn, Hazel Bly. Clara Herrman, Min nie Jacobson, Cecelia Kcnyni , Norma Fenn, Belva Buckwalter and the hostess, Mrs. Grace Fenn. An all-day meeting will b held October 5 with a noon pot luck luncheon at the home of Mrs. Belva Buckwalter. MARIAN CAROLYN GRAY TO BE MARRIED IN SPOKANE, OCTOBER (TH Wedding invitations have been received in Roseburg by friends of Mr. and Mrs. Horton Gray, former residents of this city, in viting them to the wedding of their daughter, Marian Carolyn, to Frank Canllon. at nine o'-clock the morning of October 6th at St. Aloysius Church. For traveling the bride chose a gray suit with black accessories and a corsage of pink gladioli. Following a honeymoon to Idaho they are now making their home at Wilbur, where the bridegroom is employed by the Wilbur Lum ber company. FRIENDSHIP CLUB HAS INTERESTING MEETING THURSDAY EVENING Friendship club met at the game room at the K. of P. hall Thursday evening to complete plans for a benefit card partv to be held Thursday night, Oct ober 6, at eight o'clock at Ihe hall. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be served. The public is cordially invited to at tend. Tickets may be secured from Al's Fixit shop at 318 W. Washington street. Miss Joan Bolsinger, special guest Instructor, gave a most interesting demonstration of stencil cutting and textile paint ing. VV. A. MacArthur performing the impressive double ring ceremony In the presence of 100 friends and relatives. Salmon and white gladioli formed the bouquets in the two large floor baskets, which were flanked by candelabra holding tall white tapers. The candles were lighted by the ushers, Charlie Long and Dick Landis. Miss Norma Cox, organist, played the wedding music and accompanied Cloyd Rlffe, who sang, "I Love You Truly." and "Because." The traditional wed ding marches were also played by Miss Cox. The bride came down the aisle on the arm of her father. Previously t coming to Roseburg with her family a year ago, she attended Eugene high school. She Is em ployed with her father at the Roseburg Dental laboratory. The bridegroom Is employed at Smith Motors. He was graduate from Eugene high school. DEPARTMENT OFFICER PAYS OFFICIAL VISIT TO O. OF U. V. FRIDAY The second (all meeting of 15. D. U. V., was held Friday evening, September 23rd, at the K. of P. Hall on North Rose Street. Department Inspector Ada Da vidson of Eugene, accompanied by Mrs. Mary Furber ana Mrs. Esta Bier, also ot Eugene, both Past Department Presidents, paid her official visit and ann ounced that the Department Con vention would be held in Rose burg in 1950. Following the business meet ing a birthday party honoring those having birthdays during the months cf July, August and September was enjoyed. Honored guests were Anna Pet erson and Jeanette Meigs. The next regular meeting will be held Frldav. October 14, at the K. of P. Hall.
