Smith, son of Mrs. Wal ter Wilson of this cltv, at the First Christian Church Saturday, July 23, with Rev. Kenneth W. Knox officiating. The bride was lovelv In a grey gabardine suit with black acces sories and orchid corsage. The bride's mother wore an aft ernoon dress of grey with double gardenia corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a forest green afternoon dress and double orchid corsage. The wedding was attended by Immediate members of the fam ilies, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Byrd and Mr. and Mrs. Jamts C. Smith Mrs. Ralph Carnes who -was ma tron of honor. Ira Byrd acted as best man. Immediately after the cere mony a wedding dinner was serv ed at the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wilson. Attending were the Im mediate families of the bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Byrd, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Eckhardt, Mrs. Ralph Carnes, Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Carter and sons Denny and Jerry. The bride is employed at the Sheriff's office, and the groom ts Machinist Mate 2nd class in tne U. S. Navy, stationed in Boston. PENGRA HONORED AT CHARMING DINNER SATURDAY NIGHT Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Pen gra, who with their two sons, Marshall and Michael, are here from Oak Ridge, Tenn., were guests of honor at a charming dinner party at seven o'clock Sat urday evening at the Roseburg country club. John Bruce, who are moving to Long Beach, Calif., to make their home. Mrs. Harden has been eni ploved at the Veterans hospital here the last two and a half years. ENTERTAINS AT POTLUCK LUNCHEON Evergreen Grange Home Eco nomics club met Thursday at ootluck luncheon at the hall with members of Sutherlin and Fair Oaks Home Economic! clubs as guests. The tables were beautifully decorated with bouquets of sum mer flowers and candles in a color-scheme of blue and yellow. Blanche Tipton and Marion Har- ryman were in charge ol tne dec orations. Following the enjoyable potluck luncheon, group singing was held, followed by a guessing game with Mrs. Orville Smith of Fair Oaks winning the prize. A one-act play was presented and talks were given by the chairman, Margaret McCord; Phreda Wahl. chairman of Sutherlin H. E. C. Mabel C rouse, chairman of Fair Oaks H. E. Studio Mrs. Phil Hsrth CIRCLES OF FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH HOLD QUARTERLY MEETING All circles of the women's guild of Faith Lutheran church held the quarterly missionary society I meeting at the home of Mrs. R. V. Coffman on East Douglas street Tuesday evening with Mrs. ! Ray Alder and Mrs. George An derson assisting hostesses. Following the opening hymn. Rev. Willis Erickson, pastor, pre sented the devotionals and mem-! bers present gave short sentence -prayers. Mrs. Rolland Quam. I program chairman, presented the interesting missionary pro-1 gram. Mrs. Andy Schlick gave a talk on "Our Samaria," fo!-i lowed by a group from the church choir presenting an anthem. Mrs. Leonard Anderson spoke on "Missionary work in Alaska." The business meeting followed and plans were made for a church picnic to be held some time in August. It was announced the Faith Lu theran church had been asked to serve with St. George's Episco pal church at a lea to be spon sored in August (date to be an nounced later) by the Roseburg Council of Church Women. Dorcus circle will meet Sept. 8. at one-thirty o'clock at the home of Mrs. Marvin Quist; Mar tha circle will meet at one-thirty o'clock Sept. 13. at the home of Mrs. George Johnson, and Beth- j any circle will meet Sept. 20 at eight o'clock in the evening at the home of Mrs. Sansted. j Delicious refreshments were served at the close of the meet-1 ing to 22 members and nine guests.
