Fri., June 17, 1949 Monica Lind's Dancers Dated At Senior High Monica Lind, famed ballerina, and her company of dancers are scheduled to appear at the Rose burg Senior High School audi torium Wednesday, June 22, at 8 p. m. This will be Miss Lind's second appearance in this city. She and her troop were popularly aclaimed when they were here a year ago. The program will consist of "Romanza, traditional classic ballet, set to the music of Fred erick Chopin with Joel Benway, Moria Blranda and Vonda Ben son In the leading roles. "Concerto" Is a modern ab stract choreographed to the mu sic of Aram Katchaturian's "Pi ano Concerto," with Monica Lind In the starring role, partnered by Joel Benway, and supported by Morla Miranda, Geralyn Donald, Joy Allen and Vonda Benson. "Slaughter on 10th Avenue" is a jazz ballet to the music of Rich ard Rodgers of the "Hammer stein and Rogers" team of Okla homa fame. This ballet takes place In a saloon on New York's rough and tough 10th Avenue. The characters of the people are questionable and are performed with "Tongue In Cheek." There Is gun play and comedy. "La Lune Verde" (The Green Moon), is a storybook ballet, espe cially appreciated by children. Judge Protects Landlord From Debt Imprisonment PORTLAND, June 17. UP) A federal judge yesterday refused tp order a landlord to repay rent overcharges because he said, it might lead to imprisonment for debt. Federal Judge McColloch said that an action brought in the name of Tighe E. Woods, nation al housing expediter, charged John S. Brown, apartment house owner, with over-collecting rents by $282 and asked restitution. The judge said government counsel indicated It would en force a restitution order by in voking the court's contempt pow ers. UP) Senator Hunt (D-Wyo) said last Thursday the Senate Interior Af fairs Committee has approveu a hill to establish a memorial to Sacajawea, the Indian girl who guided the Lewis and Clark ex pedition. The memorial, he said, would be at Lander, Wyo., where she supposedly is buried. Similar bills have been Intro duced in previous years by other Wyoming Senators, but ne,ver passed. In Glendale, who visited Los Angeles on busi ness last week, took sick and hurried back home. He was placed in the hospital for several days in Grants Pass for threatened pneumonia. In the meantime Mrs. Ricker also visited the hospital for emergency treatment for a cut artery in her thumb.
