This will be the only drill before the Chiefs oppose the Oakland Oaks in a game here Friday night. The Friday night contest will be unique In that both managers, Earl Sargent of the Chiefs and Hoot Gibson of the Oaks, will do the hurling lor their respective teams. Billed as 'The battle of the man agers," both Sargent and Gibson will try to last out the first in nlng, before the ravages of inac tivity begin to slow up these former semi-pro pitchers. Sargent, a knuckleball artist, pitched in the greater Portland League tn 1941. He won 12 games and lost none while hurling for Birley's baseball nine. Hoot Gibson is an old-time chucker who reportedly has struck out opponents left and right. The pitchers' duel promises to be a crowd-pleasing contest, inform ants close to the managers say. Pete Coor, ailing Chiefs' catcher, presently recovering rapidly from an appendectomy, is expected to start catching again in the near future. Coor is not only a clever catcher, but a reliable hit ter as well. The addition of Coor to the Chiefs' lineup is expected to enhance Roseburg s chances for future wins.
