"As I see It, we've done pretty well at keeping our major secrets to ourselves," he added. Eisenhower, now president of Columbia University, made his remarks at a press conference an hour arter he and nis wue arriv ed In Denver for a vacation. The wartime Commander of Allied Forces In Europe said he f found many of his men didn't have a clear Idea of what they 1 were fighting for. He blamed this on America's schools. "Cities should give first prior ities to teachers,'rhe said. "The teacher's position in the com munity should be raised. "Technical and professional studies should be only a part of a broad general education de signed to make effective citizens of this Democracy."
