Russia Gains Objsctiv The Russian - licensed German press has implied repeatedly that the Soviets are using the Berlin blockade as a lever to gain four power talks on all of Germany. Russia and seven of her satellite nations called for such talks at the meeting of their foreign min isters In Warsaw last month. Air activity Quickened In Bri tain under the Impart of the Ber lin crisis. The air ministry or dered large-scale Royal Air Force exercises over Southern England for Sunday in conjunction with a test of Britain's wartime air raid observation service. In Berlin, the Russians arrest ed two U. S. military policemen who drove by "mistake into the Russian zone. The provost marsh al said "we are In contact with the Russians now and expect that they will be released soon." Sees Impedimenta to Rods The French-licensed newspaper Der Kurler, in Berlin, claims Kus- sia could not launch a blitz against the Western zones of Ger many even II she wanted to. "Dismantled rail lines east of the Elbe and deteriorated bridges would hold up the advance of mo torized columns," the paper as serted. It added that the Russians would be hampered by long com munication lines, and quoted Ger man railway men as saying that Soviet supply trains still are har assed by bands of guerillas In the former Polish Ukraine. Der Kurier also quoted return ing German war prisoners as say ing the Russian people had no zest for war and that the Soviet Army in Germany was "worried about the relatively great num ber of deserters." DAILY DEVOTIONAL OR. CHARLES A. EDWARDS "Think truly, and thy thoughts Shall a world's famine feed. Speak truly, and each word of Thine shall be a faithful seed. Live truly, and thy life shall be a great and noble creed." (Bonar) Paul saw the value of absorp tion in the good. Character growing has Its mental side. What you think rules your life. Examine your preoccupation in the presence of Christ. Look at Paul's idea of the play of one's mind upon good things. If you get lost in the good, the baa cannot get you. Preoccupa tion with the right outwits toll, fears, doubts, temptation. Young people under modern social pressure can say the good does not leave a bad taste afterward, one facing recurring illness can say: "The Lord Is my shepherd." Perhaps a ter rible trouble has come your way. Then say "As thy day thy strength shall be." There is a successful way of meeting what life brnigs. It is the use of the positive thought. "What soever things are true, honest, pure, think on these things." Think the good, and you are more apt to do the good. "Evil is to him who evil thinks." Amen.
