H.Towt winning high in bridge and Mrs. George Johnson win ning high score in pinochle. Lovely refreshments were serv ed at midnight to Mr. and Mrs. J. K. A., has an nounced election of officers for Monday night, May 24, at 8 o'clock at the Days Creek school. Mrs. Snyder asks all interested in organizing a Boy Scout troop to be present as the county organ izer will be in attendance. Plans for the annual school pic nic will be discussed. A report of the hot lunch pro gram will be given and a com mittee will be elected to serve lor the coming year. Mrs. Armour Murdock, president, conducted the meeting. Mixed spring flow ers formed the attractive deco rations. Mrs. Brure Mellis gave an in cresting report on the Mothers Club, which Is organized in onlv two states of the Union, Utah and Oregon. TO MEET MONDAY EVENING The regular meeting of the Roseburg Business and Profes sional Women's Club was held at the Armory May 10. Lcona Bry ant, former state president of B. p. w., and now a member from the Marsh field club, was the guest speaker. She reviewed the history of Roseburg's B. P. W., and stressed the need for con tinued growth and action throughout the state. Entertain ment for the meeting included piano selections by Bob Lucky, who played "The Man I Love!" FRIENDLY CIRCLE CLUB HAS MEETING The Friendly Circle Club mel Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Persia Vowel on Chestnut street. Nine memliers and one guest enjoyed the after noon. Each member told the num ber of children and grandchil dren she had and related in teresting events of their lives. Prize went to Mis. Ruth Reese and Mrs. Grace Bowen. Mrs. Mar garet Pfaff received the duor prize. A number ol poems were read by members. A beautiful birthday cake, bak ed by Mrs. Margaret Pfaff, was served in honor of six memliers having birthdays in April, May or June. The next meeting will he June 9 at the home of Mis. June Stilt- ner at 1313 Winchester street. The bulk of Oregon's turkey breeding liocks is being marketed this week, with producers receiving highest prices in history for birds from which thev have already sold record numbers of hatching eggs. Net prices to growers are around 47 cents on hens, 43 to 44 cents on toms. Some growers, showing the usual tendency of farmers in a tight market situa tion, are reported to be storing the birds and holding out for 50 cents on hens.
