Schlick was installed hs president of Rose P.-T. A. at the May meeting of the associa tion at the schoolhousc last Mon day. Mrs. I. M. Dunn retiring president was in charge of the short installation service. ' Serving with Mrs. Schlick dur ing the coming school year will be Mrs. Lester Nielsen, vice presi dent; Mrs. Thomas Pargeter, Secretary, and Mrs. W. S. Hen son, treasurer. The new president reported on the recent Oregon P.-1. A. eon Cress held at Klamath Falls at which 406 delegates from the Oregon P.-T. A. Associations were in attendance. Theme for the an nual congress was "The World At Our Doorstep." Mrs. S. A. Warg, member of the Rose Asso ciation, was elected as a regional vice-president. Following the short business session the meeting was turned over to the sixth grade class which presented a program. PINK AND BLUE SHOWER IS GIVEN A pink and blue shower was given April 5 by Mrs. Elmore Hill at her home on Military ave nue honoring Mrs. Harry Bakken. The hostess was assisted by Mrs. Allen Moore. Lovely gifts were presented to Mrs. Bakken from: Mrs. Donald Ouiley, Mrs. Pat O'Brien, Mrs. Clem Schneider, Mrs. Lillian Hill, Mrs. Allen Moore, Mrs. Clifford Hess, Mrs. Lloyd Hill, Mrs. N. W. MacMillan, Mrs. Harry Hill and the hostess. The evening hours were spent in visiling. Later delicious refresh ments were served. SHOWER PARTY IS HELD AT FACILITY Kitchen employes at the Vet erans Facility held a pink and blue shower for Harvey Blake on St. Patrick's day at the dining hall of the Facility. FIO A MISSIONARY TEA IS HELD FRIDAY The South parlor of the First Christian Church was the setting for the Missionary Tea honoring the newer women of the church membership, for the month of April on t riday. A high point of interest was the lace covered worship-table, centered witn tne upen Bible, be fore a picture of the Christ, and surrounded by candles and flow ers. Other tables were filled with interest-catching missionary stud ies; books, pamphlets, maps and magazines which make up the Missionary Library. Anv title of which may be withdrawn for reading when so desired; time limit is the usual two weeks. Program Director Elsie Coffell, lr:'roduced the officers who were nr sent; President Emma Beck Ifj, and Treasurer Marguerite jviunson. The burden of study was high lighting the various missionary activities. Mrs. Edith S. Ackert presented ten of the many activi ties located in the united States. These were: All People's Church located in Los Angeles, about Ihree years old, discussed bv Mrs, Coffell; White Swan Indian Mis sion located near Yakima, Wash., discussed by Dorothy McSay, who said her home was once near that vicinity. Her report was from the National Geographic lor Febru ary. More highlights were Pinev Woods Country Life school, Piney Woods, Miss., the home of the Cotton Blossom Singers who used to tour the west, discussed by r.mma lieckiey and freacner Mc Reynolds, missionary in south eastern Oklahoma with four or five helpers ministering to the unchurched folk in the moun tains, discussed by Mrs. Valdean Brldgess. The College field was discussed by Lena C. Poole and Mrs. Vaeltta Taylor discussed the new church of Corpus Christi, Texas. Terry Leavitt's home for needy boys, Thorp, Wash., and The Happy Lad's farm near Eu gene, was discussed by Mrs. Pearl Mathis. Hazel Green Academy (Kentucky) was discussed by Mrs. Ackert emphasizing their mobile unit ministery in dispens ing books to the greatly deprived among the share croppers and roadies-. communities. An effort is being made to gather books for this mobile unit. The division of, work in the foreign field was discussed by Mrs. Mable P. Tay lor, who showed this division to be in agreement by the various denominations In order to pre vent confusion arising from vary ing viewpoints. Mrs. Taylor also mentioned the great need of the lepeis for a stahle abiding place, as well as hospitalization and medical care. Mis. Martha Knox made a very fine report on the many missionary activities of the local church. Mrs. Jeannette Bou rock gave very beautiful devo tions on the theme, "The Harvest Is Great", bearing emphasis upon the thought that each one is need ed in the harvest. Mrs. Valetta Taylor lead her committee in serving delicious fancy cakes and tea during the visiting hour. Names in the guest book were Mesdames L.
