AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY HAS INTERESTING MEETING The American Legion Auxiliary held a very intcrestin" meeting at the Armory Tuesday night with the president, Wattle Jack son, presiding. A large attendance enjoyed the program, w hich was highlighted bv a fine talk fin leg islation by Mrs. Thomas Parkin son. .Mrs. Leah IJrown was appoint oil color bearer to fill the vacancy Iff t by the resignation of Mrs. Gus Angel. Mrs. Hose Pauber was appointed publicity chairman tt) fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Mis. Robert Kelly. The Americanism chairman, Mis. Hester Heed is planning an Americanism quiz for the next meeting to tie held February 3. An Oregon travelog film and a safety first film for school chil dren were shown by Mr. Palme tier, Standard Oil film represen tative. MELROSE GRANGE TO SPONSOR CARD PARTY Melrose Grange met Tuesday evening with the master C. K Keece, presiding. The first and second degrees were conferred upon Mickey Benedict, by Mrs. Alice Goff. The lecturer, Mrs. Ray Poerner, gave a very en thusiastic and interesting report on her trip to the lecturers' school at Corvallis, and presented an enjoyable program during the social hour. Seven visiturs from Azalea Grange were nresent and discussed a resolution stjonsored by their Grange. It was announced by Mrs. Le nore Cooper, chairman, that a public card party would be held i t the hall Friday, Jan. 30. KIOWA CAMP FIRE GROUP HAS MEETING The Kiowa Camp Fir.' group met Tuesday night at the home of Joyce and Janet I.arpham. Discussion was held concerning a cooked food and c;:iidy sale to be held sometime in Frbi uary. I-eather book markers were made and decorated with sten cils. Refreshments were served to Mrs. Dorothy Clink, guardian, Barbara Bailey, new member; Norene Allen. Norma John, Vir ginia Jones, Betty Clark, Arlene Coflman and Joyce and Janet Harpham. MRS. Forsberg with Mrs. Eu j gene Ridenour, president, in I ch.irge uf the business session. I i'ian.s were made lor an evening meeting to be held I-ebruary 6 at 8 o'clock at I he schoolhouse. A joint meeting with the men will lie held by the clan once a month. This was to have ori'dnallv been a card parly, but instead will be a general get-together for discus sion on tuples pertaining to the community. The committee in charge of the meeting includes Mr. and Mrs. Pavis. Mr. and Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Forslierg. The constitution was read and approved. Adrid Van Horn and Jessie Wnneh were nominated and elected to the executive board and the third member is to be elected at the next meeting. '1 he next regular meeting will be in the banquet room of the Hey Rey Cafe, February 12 Willi Mrs. Calley, Mrs. Margaret Slritzke and Freda Pavis as hos tesses.
