Douglas County I'.-T.A. council president, were Mrs. Eddy and Andrew Hanson, vice presidents, Mm. Loo. Brown, sec retary, and Vern Wootcn, treas urer. Plans were made lo raise money for school playground equipment and school lunches were discussed. This was fol lowed by entertainment present ed by student singing and solos by Henrietta Johnson, after which refreshments were served Next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 8. WOMEN'S STUDY CLUB HAS INTERESTING MEETING YONCALLA The Yunsalla Women s Study Club met at the home of Mrs. Ervin Kice, Thurs day attcrnuon tx.-t. ltiih, with Mrs. Dare Kingery as co-hostess. A desert luncheon was served from a lace covered table center ed with colorful fall flowers. Following luncheon all enjoyed responses to roll call, each giving an Item on Mexico. Mrs. Bernice Mei k gave an In teresting travelogue on the Pan Aiiieucun llighwav. Mrs. Stacy A'iain& viviuiy described home liie in Mexico. Communications were read concerning the National Con vention to be held in Portland May 1UIH. The Yoncalla club will be hostess to the Wyoming state president and delegation. District No. 2 conlerence will be Held in Coquille November 7. Mrs. Raphael Wise was ap ixiinted radio listening chairman and will report programs for club women broadcast over K.O.A.C. every Friday at 2 P. M. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. John Kruse. Mrs. Jess Lasswell will present tne lesson on Health. Mrs. Ada belle Kingston of Portland will be guest seaker. Kelley Auxiliary, No. 2468, V. F. W., met Tuesday evening at the K. of P. hall lor a business session with Florence Cooier, prosiucnt, in charge. Mrs. Nolle Cummings, past pre sident of the auxiliary, under the former charter, rejoined the or ganization. Plans were made for a food and rummage sale to be held Friday alternoon and Saturday. November 14-15, at the Episcopal parish hall. Ml memliers are re quested to keep the date in mind and have their donations ready. The next regular meeting will held Tuesday, October 28, at 8 o'clock at Ihe K of P. hall. A social hour will follow the meet ing and relieshments will be served. WILLING WORKERS CLUB IS ENTERTAINED YONCALLA Mrs. Murray graciously entertained the Will ing Workers club of Scotts Val ley at her home, Wednesday aft ernoon, assisted by Mrs. Kay Tur pin. Plans were completed for the club Bazaar to lie held in Yoncalla Doe. 13th. JUVENILE GRANGE HAS MEETING MONDAY Evergreen Juvenile grange met Monday night at the hall with Ihe master Sharon Bloom in chnrge. Sixteen members present. Plans were made to have a H ilowe'en party some night near Hallowe'en lor all the Juvenile members. 6TEDFAST CLASS TO MEET ON THURSDAY The Slodfast Class will hold a potluck luncheon at twelve o' clock Thursday, Oc'ober 23, at the First Piesbyterinn church parlors. All members and friends are most cordially invited to at tend and those attending are asked to bring scissors, darning needles and thread and their thimbles as the group will do darning work during the social hour. Coniff of the state police identified the slain man as Edward Pare and said he had been "stabbed or shot In the back or possibly both."
