Back From Vacation Justice of the Peace Thomas C. Hartfiel returned to his office at the county courthouse this morning after a vacation of three weeks. Justice and Mrs. Hartfiel includ ed a motor trip to Seattle as part of their vacation. Home For Summer Mrs. Har ry Lee Cross, nee Jean Ritchie, and baby daughter, Nancy, of Suffolk, Va., are spending the summer in Garden Valley visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ritchie. They made the trip from Virginia to Portland by plane, where they were met by the Ritchies and brought to Garden Valley. Will Convalsce Here Mrs. R. R. Back From Convention Mr. and Mrs. George Jackson have returned to their home at 1147 Corey Avenue, Roseburg, follow ing a stay in Portland attending tne state convention oi tne Am erican Legion and Auxiliary. They were delegates from Ump qua Post, No. 1G, and auxiliary. Mrs. Jackson is president of the auxiliary here this year. Future Farmers Doing Big Business SALEM, Ore., July 1. UP) The 2,133 members of Oregon Future Farmers are running a big business, with $476,907 Invest ed in their farming operations, the Slate Department of Voca tional Education said today. Thirty of the 48 chapters own $52,000 worth of farm machinery and equipment cooperatively, while 10 chapters manage a total of 253 acres in farms owned and operated by the chapters. The FHA boys bought $50,905 worth of victory bonds in the past 12 months, and canned (i, 253 cans of food for relief. They also turned in 2,924 pounds of waste fat. The boys canned 380,114 cans of food, raised 562 gardens total ing 330 acres, and 1,256 boys made their farm homes more beautiful. The FFA members borowed $17,005 from their local hanks. In their farm shop program, they built 1,725 pieces of farm machinery, and repaired 2,296 farm machines. Daughter Is Born A daughter, Sandra Lou, was born June 21 at Desler, Nebr., to Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Jenkins, according to word received here. Mr. Jenkins is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Rossar Jenkins of Brockway. From Los Angeles Mr. and Mrs. Ledemorr and daughters, Esther, Georgene and Betty Lou, of Los Angeles, are spending their vacation at the G. A. Llnd bloom ranch home at Dlxonvllle. Baby Henbest was born in Roseburg May 1, 1947. Surviving are the parent, who reside on Beacon Way Road, Roseburg; the maternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kennth L. Gilkeson, and the paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hen best, all of Roseburg. Graveside services will be held at the Masonic Cemetery Thurs day morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. BenJ. E. Named as delegates of the lo cal church to the international young people's convention are Sue Ilalin and Jack Mathls. Also going but not as delegates are Don Gibbs and Dorothy Smith.
