Chain, who owns one of the loveliest ranch homes near I Myrtle Creek, and John Sellers, j both bus drivers for Myrtle Creek High School, were hosts at a de- lightful picnic luncheon at the ' Chain home Friday, June 6, when they entertained 130 students of the Myrtle Creek Hiph School and their parents. Additional guests were Coach and Mrs. Lowerv. Mrs. Ted Shirtcliff, Mrs. Hanna. Mrs. R. A. Brlgga, Mrs. Bruce Briggs and Mrs. liene tucKet. The Chain garden has a fine swimming pool and the host also has riding horses, which were greatly enjoyed by the guests. The followine assisted in serv ing: Mrs. Ida Powers, Mrs. Ma. ble Morey, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Phlpps, Howard Bobbs, Hugh Lounsberr and Mrs. koss cnam berlin, The picnic luncheon In cluded foot long "hot dogs" with chili; French dipped roast beef sandwiches, cole slaw, rensn, ' pickles, candy, toasted marshmal- lows and assorted cold drinks, ice cream was furnished by the stu dent body. Following a social hour of games, horseback riding and fishing, a two-hour motion picture show was presented by Mr. Chain. Jerome Carey took motion pictures of the highlights of the day. The entire group ex pressed their appreciation for a most enjoyable occasion. MRS. CLIFFORD HESS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF GARDEN VALLEY CLUB The Garden Valley Women's Club was graciously entertained at the clubhouse Thurday after noon by Mrs. John Sinclair and Mrs. F. G. Parrott, at which time election of the following officers occurred: president, Mrs. Clifford Hess; Mrs. Walter Edmonds, 1st. vice-president; Mrs. Carl Schmidt secretary-treasurer, and Mrs. Sina Johnson, reporter. A social hour was followed by the hostesses, Mrs. Sinclair and Mrs. Parrott serving delicious re freshmenls to Mrs. Woodward of Kansas City; Mrs.- Mildred Lee of Dunsmulr, Calif., and Mis. Clemme, guests, and Mrs. Vivian Hatcher, Mrs. Charlie Henly, Mrs. P. Pons, Mis. Walter Ed monds, Mrs. T. M. Winnlford, Mrs. Harry Wesley, Mrs. C. L. Spray, Mrs. Peter Sinclair, Mrs. Clem Schneider, Mrs. CaVl Schmidt, Mrs. Hugh Ritchie, Mrs. U. F. McLaughlin, Mrs. Clifford Hess, Mrs. Sina Johnson, Mrs. Harvey Ewens, Mrs. Graham Ew ens and Mrs. Edwin Booth. The club will meet July 10 at two o'clock at the clubhouse with Mrs. Harvey Ewcns, and Mrs. T. M. Winnlford as co-hostesses. MR. AND MRS. FINDLAY ENTERTAIN AT LOVELY OINNER PARTY SUNDAY Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Findlny and daughter, Ruby Jo and Bren da, and son, Tommy, entertained at a very lovely dinner at their home Sunday, having as guests: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bartletl and sons, Dean and Richard; Mrs. Pennison and Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Blood. Later in the evening the group was Joined by Mrs. Florence Lo renz and children, Buddy and Beverly Rao Rockwell. EAGLES AUXILIARY ENTERTAIN AERIE AT TURKEY DINNER The Eagles Auxiliary onler tallied the Aerie at a delightful seven o'clock turkey dinner Tues day evening at the Eagles hall. A Fathers Day program was pre sented and included a poem by Mrs. Clara Stiewlg; piano solos by Mrs. Green, and a community sing. Pettlt, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair L. Pettit, at the latter's home at 1018 Winchester Street, Saturday, June 7th, at 2 o'clock In the afternoon. Dr. Morris H. Roach performed the ceremony before a small gathering of close friends and relatives. The rooms were tastefully dec orated with bowls of pink and white roses and snapdragons from Lily's Flower Shop. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Mar- Jorle Pettlt, played the Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin as tne bridal narty took its place for the ceremony. The bride was beautiful in a softly tailored wool suit of me dium blue with white crepe b ousc and b ack accessories. Her corsage was of pink and white carnations and she wore a single strand of pearls brought from Japan by the bridegroom. Miss Doris Dunning, maid of honor, was charming In a navy blue crene with white lace collar. She wore a corsage of deep pink carnations. ROTARY ANNS ENJOY LUNCHEON MEETING AT RAINBOW GRILL THURSDAY The Rotary Anns enjoyed a de lightful twelve o'clock no-hostess luncheon Thursday at the Rain bow Grill. Pettlt. brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The bride's mother was attrac tively clad in a gown of deep blue crepe with a corsage of white carnations. The bride groom's mother wore a white palm beach suit set off by a cor sage of deep pink carnations. At the close of the ceremony photographs of the bridal party were taken by V. V. Harpham. An Informal reception followed at the country home of the bride's parents on the Newton Creek road. About 75 guests were pres ent to wish the newly married couple long life and happiness. The bride's table was centered by a four-tiered wedding cake topped by a miniature bridal couple, Bouquets of red cluster roses and snapdragons decorated the large living room. The hrldc and groom cut the cake which was served by Mrs. Jewel Chasteen, Mrs. Harry Hor ton, Mrs. Sadie Olson and Mrs. Albert Stangley. Mrs. Richard Marklllie and Mrs. Clarence Hor ton poured. Miss Alberta Wil liams, cousin of the bride, had charge of the guest book and Mrs. J. H. Williams presided NAVY MOTHERS CLUB HAS FINE MEETING MONDAY EVENING I The Navy Mothers Club met at the Salvation Army head quarters Monday evening for an interesting meetlnff, after which the group went to the home of Mrs. Grover C. Blake for a plea sant social hour. Mrs. Blake gave a talk on her recent vacation trip to Hawaii, which was a Moth er's Day gift to her from two of her daughters, Miss Genevieve Blake and Mrs. Jessie Liles. Following the social hour Mrs. Elake served lovely refreshments to Mrs. Wright, a guest, and Mrs. Necathorn, Mrs. Chalmers, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Chllson, Mrs. Parslow and Mrs. Nelson. VISITORS HONORED AT CHARMING LUNCHEON AT BOWKER HOME Mrs. M. C. Bowker entertained at a very charming one o'clock luncheon at her attractive home near Glide Friday, when she com plimented Mrs. Frederick Hllgen berg, nee Dorothy Dale Jackson, who is visiting here from Vir ginia, and Mrs. Maynard Bell, nee Evelyn Willis, a visitor from Riverside, Calif. She is a junior in Roseburp High School. The bridegroom was born In this city, graduated from Rose burg High School, and spent three years with the armed forces in New Caledonia, Luzon and Ja pan. Since his return from the far Pacific he has been engaged as in independent trucker. Guests attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mar klllie and son, Earl, Mr. and Mrs. Clair L.
