HAS FINAL MEETING AT DINNER ON MONDAY EVENING Umpqua Chipter of D. A. R. held its final meeting of the year at a planned Dotluck seven o'clock dinner Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. W. French in Sutherlin. Mrs. French was assisted as co-hostess by her daughter, Mrs. Leslie Chapman. Members and their husbands were invited. Covers were placed at an at tractively appointed table for: Mrs. C. P. Cnvlor, regent, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Campbell and son, McAfee; Mrs. Douglas Waite, Judge and Mrs. D. N. Rev. Kenneth W. Knox performed the imnres sive double ring ceremony at two-thirty o'clock in the presence of 300 relatives and friends. A very beautiful setting was arranged with a white archway of Madonna lilies and blue del phininums flanked by white can delabra holding tall white cathe dral candles. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Clarence Trued nlayed softlv on the,, organ as the two candlelifht ers. Miss Joyce Quine and Miss Pat Sander, gowned in identical pastel pink dresses, lighted the candles. Mrs. Trued accompanied Jim Smith, who sang, "Always" and "Because." She played the Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin for the bridal party to take its place at the altar and at the close of the ceremony, played Men delssohn's Wedding Recessional. The bride given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Donald White, was beautiful in a gown of white duchess satin, fashioned with a full leneth train, close fitting bodice designed with a high neckline lace yoke with tinv white satin buttons from the neck to the waist The sleeves were wrist length. Her fingertip veil of net was edged with lace and held in place with a tiara of seed pearls. She wore a single strand of pearls, a gift of the bride groom. She carried a white Bible topped by a large orchid tied with a shower of white satin rib bons knotted with stephanotis. Miss Yvonne Byrd, maid of honor, wore a gown of pale green MRS. VERNON KEEL COMPLIMENTS VISITORS AT CHARMING TEA Mrs. Vernon Keel entertained at a very charming tea Friday- afternoon at her attractive home on Court street in compliment to ner nouse guests, Mrs. wamer Woody, Mrs. Arthur Panter and son, Vernon; and Miss Joanne Keel, all of Huntsville, Ala., and to also honor Mrs. Asa Robley, who is here from California vis iting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. They carried colonial bouquets tied with yellow ribbon. Walter Jacobs of Green Acre, Wash., acted as best man and Al bert Hooten and Jack Loomis were ushers. The bride's mother wore a grey pin-stripe suit with black ac cessories and a corsage of gar denias. The bridegroom's mother wore a black suit with pink and black accessories and a corsage of Dink carnations. A reception followed in the church parlors. The bride's table was covered with a lace cloth and centered with a large arrange ment of sweetoeas and Canter bury bells flanked by tall white tapers. The bride was graduated from Roseburg Senior High School and was employed at the Excel Dress Shop. The bridegroom was graduated from Roseburg Senior High School and during World War II, served in the U. S. Navy. He is now employed at Wilson Chain and Power Saw Service. Carnations and hydrangeas formed a very lovely decorative motif for the occasion. Red Cross work was discussed, but was tabled until the next meeting. Tues- LEGION AUXILIARY HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING TUESDAY The American Legion Auxili ary held a meeting Tuesday night at the armory with Mrs. Nance Duncan, president, in charge. The two girls, sent by the auxiliary to the Girls Slate, gave interesting reports of the week they spent attending the Girls State. The Auxiliary of the State sponsors the Girls State camp and each auxiliary Unit sponsors two or more girls. These girls are chosen from the Junior Class of the High School.
