P. W. C. The soring vellow o f daffodils, fairv dainty acacia and yellow and green tapers not only carried out the cluo colors oui gave mc tables a gay spring dress. Ninety seven guests and members con vened at seven o'clock for din ner and program. Out of town guests included the Associated Eusiness Women's Club of Suthe erlin and their gentlemen escorts, Mrs. Leona Bryant of Coquille, a past state president of the State Federation of B. P. W. C, Dr. Mary Williams and Mrs. Cordelia Rice both of Myrtle Creek. Mrs. Alvia Wetherell, president of the local club welcomed the guests and Mrs. Nance Duncan, jn behalf of the local club pres ented the Sutherlin club with a number of books as a token of good will towards the Sulherlin's first project, that of building up their city library. Mrs. Evalu Russell, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Helen baar, sang several lovely numbers. Mrs. Ieona Bry ant gave an enthusiastic talk on 4hc value of women's civic clubs being affiliated with the .State and National federation 01 a. f. W.C. One of the many advantag es enumerated was the unity ol purpose of women In business ml professions in their social civic projects, as well as sup jjiying material by which they might imporve their position in 1hcir res)ective vocations. Not only do the Federations supply out lines but also abundant research material. . As the name implies hobby iight calls for a display of hob bies that the members indulge Jn. Among some of them dis played the other evening were n set of camel bells brought from India, by Mrs. Maude Kidder, made of solid brass with oriental Jnlalri enamel, each one having a different pilehed chime accord ing to size. Mrs. Mildred Herman displayed some of her collection of miniature soloes. Mrs. Coldie Jliiinn having a collection of larg rr miniature shoe. Mrs. Emily pudd's g-jlf 1 trophies showed to what degree of success she had developed her hobby. One of the most interesting and elaborate dis plays was that of Mrs. Kalie tnnlngcr, a past president of Roscburg club, now of Medical jike,! who carvrs In v.ood. she had several ensembles of person ality wood figures, one a group of "nags", a string of mull and a hill billy outllt, a centerpiece snow scene, mcst complete with frozen lake, snow banks, boys on sleds, fire, dogs and background )andscaie and she also had a set of wood plaques,. Laura lies fhowed a few of ' her large collec tion of ceramic and pottery birds. Using a swivel board easel, wired for trick lighting effect, Mr. MacArthur asked five guests to make any mark on the hoard, each of a different color, from that he developed an artist ic composition of subject, line and color. This lovely party was in charge of the following com mittee, Stella Spencer, who was also toastmistress for the evening Laura lies, Emily Judd and Maude Kidder. The table was very pretty with a centerpiece of spring tiowers. Lovers, were placed for: Mr. and Mrs. Willis B. Evans of Port land, Mr. and Mrs. Williard Nor- ris and two sons, Billy Lon and Donald and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Welsh. Tho pleasant afternoon hours were spent in visiting and before too late Mr. and Mrs. Evans de parted for their home in Tort land. SUTHERLIN CLUB HAS DINNER MEETING SUTHERLIN The Profes sional Women's Club held its quarterly banquet Monday eve ning at the Sutherlin Hotel with Mrs. Mahle Ross, Mrs. Myrtle Musgrove, Mrs. Betty Musgiove, Mrs. Ann Sampias and Mrs. May Cunningham as hostesses. The tables were very beautiful In the St. Patrick's colors centered with a lovely bouquet of yellow daf fodils flanked with tall green lighted tapers with large bou quets of flowering plum blossoms being placed about the room. A delicious fried chicken din ner was served to the following guests: Mrs. Delia Goodstoi f, Mrs. Martha Cassln. While t. j tables were being cleared group singing was en joyed. Lead by Mrs. (loss, "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," "My Irish Rose," and "Just a Song At Twlight." Mrs. Chenoweth, Mrs. Riemenschneider and Mrs. Young gave reports on the ban quet given by the Roseburg Busi ness Women's Club. Mrs. Welsh reported that she had talked with Miss Cooly of Portland and that she stated that she would try and visit the club in the near future. The piggy bank was passed around for the quarterly birthdays and Mrs. Vye Cooper, Mrs. Dorolhy Clark, Mis. Clara Trozell, Mrs. Nora Smith and Mrs. Florence Cook deposited Ihe amount of their age and at the end of the year this money will be used to buy books for the library. Each member contributed sev eral books and nearly one hun dred books were received. After the boxes are collected at the stores and the ones donated by the Roseburg club it is hoied to have about three hundred books to add to the library. The social hour was spent in visiting and playing games. The wold building game from the words, "St. Patricks Day," was won by Mrs. Atterbury, who had the most words; Mrs. McCullock, the second and Mrs. Cunningham the least. Bingo was then enjoyed until ten o'clock with Miss Fred erickson winning high prize, Mrs. Green second and Mrs. Trozelle low, after which every one sang before departing for home, "The More We Get Toge.hcr the Hap pier We Will Be."
