UP After U months in the Linn County Jail, Jack Orville Mann was setneneed to three years Im prisonment yesterday hut sen tence was suspended by Judge Victor Cilllver during good be havior. Mann pleaded guilty to burg lary of an Albany confectionery stoie. He was arrested as a sus pect in a Brownsville safe-crack-Jug Job and turned state's evi dence against two others. One, Hoy Moore, Portland, was con victed in the Brownsville case and the other, Douglas Day, alias S. D. McClain, died while the trial was in progress. The case atracted wide atten tion because of a murder story which unfolded with it. Multnomah County sheriff's deputies, questioning the men last I)ccemter, said Mann reported that Day had shot a man on Dec. 1H. Search for the victim follow, ed, and on Jan. 18 the body of Kinest Bowman, Longview, Wash., logger, was recovered from Mary's River west of Cor vallis. Day, on the witness stand, ad. mined killing Bowman and said Mann conspired with him in plan ning the shooting, but Mann de-nii-d this. Bobby Doerr Able To Leave Hospital EUGENE, Ore., Nov. 21 (JFI Bobby Doerr, Boston Red Sox secondbaseman, was released from a local hospital today after being treated for a hand Infec tion suffered while on his ranch in the remotee Rogue River sec tion of Ulahe. lxerr, wintering on his ranch on the Rogue alter starting in the world series, collected a cal lous under the little finger of his left hand while splitting fence posts. The callous became infected and his hand and arm became swollen twice their nor mal sie. He was brought to Eugene over a treacherous moun tain road only route to Illahe except hy a 40 mile trip in a boat. Arriving here Monday he was threatened by blood poisoning, hut his physician, Dr. Harold Edbloom, immediately operated and drained the puss from the infection. He received visitors for the first time yesterday and one of his visitors was Joe Gordon, ex-New York Yankee and now Cleveland Indian sec ondbaseman, who is also a local resident.
