Society and Clubs By LOTUS KNICHT PORTER SEW AND SO CLUB ' IS ENTERTAINED SUTHEKUN Mrs. Harry Barker graciously entertained the Sew and So club members and several jjucsts at a charming one thirty o'clock naiad-luncheon at her home on East Third Avenue Kriday. Pink chrysanthemum formed the centerpiece lor the table and were used about the rooms with pink chrysanthemums favors at each place. Covers were placed for: Mrs. Meryl Wahl, Mrs. Ki ma Cornish, Mrs. Naomi Ki(?gs, Mrs Mildred Culver, Mrs. Ruth VorcI- phol, Mrs. Juanlta Holjjate and the hostess, Mrs. Marker, mem bers; guests were: Mrs. George Wilcox, Mrs. Lon Hunt, Mrs. Ed ward Peterson and Mrs. A. O. Bunch. A social afternoon followed the luncheon. Mrs. liarker was pre sented with a lovely hostess Rift from Mrs. Meryl Wahl. The club will meet at one-thirty next month at .the home of Mrs. Mildred Culver and this will be their annual Christmas party with the exchange of gifts. BRIDAL SHOWER IS CHARMING AFFAIR SUTHERLIN Mrs. Ruby Bratton entertained at a charm Ins; bridal shower party at the home of Mrs. Carl Thornton Ear;t of Sutherlln Wednesday after noon In compliment to Mrs. Nor ma Dice, nee Norma Thornton, who was married recently. Kail flowers formed the decorations. Lovely gifts were presented to Mrs. Dice and the afternoon was spent In viewing the gifts and I visum?. A charming lunch was served later in the alternoon to: Mrs Dice, guest of honor, her mother, Mrs. Carl Thornton; Mrs. Amie Peplot, Mrs. Frank Pepiot, Mrs. Vlnnle Cooper, Mrs. Flossie Ison, Mrs. Royal Abeene, Sr., Mrs. Royal Abeene, Jr., Mrs. Kay Wood, Mrs. McCumber, Mrs. Fay Hogan, Mrs. Hncl Jameson, Mss. Gladys Mabley and the hos tess, Mrs. Bratlon. Those sending gifts, who were anahic to attend were: Mrs. Lloyd Quimby, Mrs. Lynn Moore. Mrs. Rodney Iatherwood, and Mrs. Leonard Pepiot. BAZAAR AND RUMMAGE SALE DATED FOR NOV. 23 The Canyonville Woman's Society of Christian Service will sponsor a bazaar and rummage sale beginning at ten In the morning Saturday, November 23, in Gray's building across the street from the Rivl and White store. A cooked food sale will also be held. Coffee and dough nuts will he served. Donations will be called for by contacting Mrs. T. 1.. Weaver, Mi's. Hay Bartley, Mrs. E. L. Mover or may be left at Weaver's Realty office. BAZAAR AND CARNIVAL TO BE HELD SATURDAY Riversdale Grange has Invited the public to enjoy a bazaar and carnival Saturday evening. No vember 23, at eight o'clock at the hall. All types of carnival booths are being arranged and a large number of articles will be on sale. Food will also le sold and danc ing will be enjoyed during the social hour. GRANGERS AND FAMILIES INVITED TO DINNER Evergreen Grunge members and their families are Invited to enjoy a six o'clork turkey dinner nt the hall Sunday, November 24. The Grange will furnish the tur key, potatoes and rolls. Member are asked to furnish the other food for the dinner. APRON AND FOOD SALE TO BE HELD The Navy Mothers Club will sponsor a food and apron saie Saturday, November 2.1. at THANKSGIVING BALL TO BE EVENT OF NOV. 28 'Hie annual Thanksgiving ball will again be resumed by the Business and Professional Women's Club Thanksgiving eve ning, November 28, at the armory, after dispensing with the event throughout the years of World War II. Mrs. Story lies and Mrs. L.' L. Spencer are acting as co-chairmen of the 19-16 event and tickets may be purchased from any member of the club. The public is most coraiany invited to enjoy the occasion. Vic. Rice's orches tra has been engaged to furnish the music. P Secretary of State Byrnes was reported ready today to press for discussion of Germany by. the foreign ministers council the' next time the Big Four strike a time consuming snag In their work on Italian and other satellite peace treaties. Following a conference with Byrnes and British Foreign Sec retary Bevln yesterday on the proposed economic merger of American and British German occupation zones, Lt. Gen. Lucius D. Clay told reporters he and Ambassador Robert Murphy were standing by here for the German talks and for consultation with Byrnes on United States policy toward Germany. Clay Is deputy commander In the American zone and Murphy is his tup political adviser. While preparing for the Big-Four at tack on king-range control and development ol the defeated enemy country, they are also winding up arrangements for the two-zone economic Integration. .This step. Clay said last night, should make the two zones eco nomically self-sufficient In the next three years but meanwhile will add many millions a year to the American budget for import Ing food into the releh.
