Harris of Medford High Srhool stated that Roseburg had "declined to abide by a flip of a coin or play on either their own field or the Medford turf" in Friday night's district playoff, i At a meeting of school officials earlier this week to determine, the field to be used, Medford "flatly refused" to toss a coin, ! branding the Roseburg field "a j quagmire unfit for champion-1 ship play," Omer J. Monger, i principal of Roseburg High School, declared. As a result of the charge, the Roseburg officials declined to play on the Medford turf, but agreed to state that it had been a "mutual deelsion" to play on neither field. Monger added. The meeting, held at Ashland, was attended by Monger and Jack Newby, assistant coach, from Roseburg: Medford officials, and by Leland IJnn. superintendent of schools at Ashland, district chairman of the league.
