CONN ENTERTAIN VISITORS OVER THE WEEKEND Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Conn en tertained at their home in Mel rose over the weekend as guests, Dr. Robert K. Campbell and his son, Howard, of Springfield, 111., who stopped over en route from the medical convention recently held in San Francisco. Dr, Campbell Is an old friend of the Conn family. He formerly lived at Melrose and left there 27 years ago for his former home in Springfield, where he has en gaged in the practice of medi cine since that time. For a num ber of years, he has been medical director of St. Johns Sanitarium In Springfield. While in Douglas county, he enjoyed meeting a number of old acquaintances. MR. AND 'MRS. An open-house reception was held Friday afternoon from two to five o'clock at the Theo Bond home for friends to call. Mrs. J. A. Buchanan. Seattle, and Mrs. J. A. Perry, Portland, sisters of the late W. H. Bond, and former Roseburg residents, were also present to welcome friends and enjoy the family reunion. . the late Mr. ana lvirs. w. n. Mrs. W. S. Hamilton, a close friend of the Bond family for many years, poured. This is the first time that the entire family of 48 have enjoyed a reunion, since the sons and daughters left the home place on Little River. The ten sons and daughters were together, how ever, In 1932 when Mr. Bond passed away, and in 1941, when their mother, Mrs. Bond, died. CALIFORNIA VISITORS HONORED AT FOURTH OF JULY PICNIC THURSDAY Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stephens, who are spending a month vaca tioning and visiting'' the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Flovd Stephens, on Blakcley street in Roseburg, were guests of honor at a delightful Fourth of Julv picnic affair on Apple creek. In addition to the two Stephens fam ilies, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kurtz and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Crocker were present.
