PRINCEN Mrs. Mary Princen entertained the Northside Sunshine Club Thursday afternoon at her home on Chadwick Street. Following a short business meeting, a gift ex change proved to be a most en joyable affair. Pollvanna names were exchanged and games were played with Mrs. Clara Stiewig winning the high prize. Delicious refreshments were served by Mrs. Princen. assisted by her daughter, Miss Bern ardine: Mrs. Senna Hiney and Miss Elizabeth Paul to: Mrs. Ora Worthington and her niece, Miss Rosemary McCulloch, who has been visiting from Springfield, Oregon, and who left the follow ing Saturday for home; Mrs. Clara Stiewig, Mrs. Mabel Patter son. France. Miss Ruth Froman; eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Froman of Ashland, Oregon, be came the bride of Alvord H. France, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. France of Roseburg, at the First Methodist Church in Ashland at three o'clock the af ternoon of June 2, 1946. Dr. G. W. Bruce oerformed the double ring ceremony in the presence of relatives and friends. The altar decorations consisted of baskets filled with pink and white roses, peonies and tall white cathedral candles. Rhododendron blossoms and fern lay on the altar rail. Mrs. Frank Davis played Schu bert's "Ave Maria" and Tann hauser's "To the Evening Star" softly h" the organ as the guests assembled, and the weddin" march as the bridal party took its place at the altar. The bride, riven in marriage by her father, was very lovelv in a floor length gown of white satin and lace, with a full train. The sleeves were wrist length. Her fingertip length veil of lace and net was held in place with a beaded tiara. She carried a white Bible topped by a large white orchid with a deep purple throat and tied with lacy white ribbon and a shower of satin streamers knotted with stephanotis, all a gift of the groom. Preceding the ceremony, Etna Davis and Doris Hunsley in pink and blue formals and wearing wrist corsages of Alice Brunner rosebuds and ribbon, lighted the candles. Mrs. Robert Sheridan, sister of the bride, in a pink net and taffeta formal, was matron of honor with Aileen Inlow in pink net formal and Emllie France, sister of the groom, in pink chiffon formal, as brides maids. All three carried colonial bouquets of pink rosebuds. Jamie France, Roseburg, brother of the groom, was best man. Luther El lison, Roseburg, Robert Sheridan and Richard Froman, Portland, and Norman Bergstrom. Ash land, were ushers. The bride's Marjorie Irvin. The engagement of Miss Mar 1orie Irvin, sister of Leslie and Barbara Irvin of Roseburg, to Le Ray Roy Armstrong, of Clatska nie, recently discharged from the U. S. Naw, has been announced. No date has been set for the wed ding. The bride-elect was graduated from Roseburg Senior High School and the last year has been a student at Oregon Stale College and is spending the sum mer in Forest Grove visiting her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sellers. The bridegroom elect was graduated from Clat skanie High School, before enter Engaged 1 V.. The bride's grandmother, Mrs. Ralph Froman, wore a blue vel vet gown and a corsage of pink rosebuds. A reception followed at the Froman home for the wedding party and guests. Lighted candles and a three-tiered wedding cake topped by a miniature bride and groom centered the lace-covered table. The cake was cut by the bride and bridegroom and was served by Mrs. F. L. France, as sisted by Emilie France, Mrs. Richard Froman, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Laurence Jones, cousin of the bride. Mrs. Ralph Froman poured. Miss Aileen In low had charge of the guest book. For traveling, the bride wore a brown suit with white accesso ries and a white orchid corsage. Following the honeymoon to points of interest in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, the couole are now at home at the Kohlha gen apartments in Roseburg. Mrs. France was graduated from Southern Oreeon College of Education and has attended Ore gon State College. For the past two years she has taught in the Junior High School in Roseburg. Mr. France graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teach ers College and is completing his master's degree at Oregon State College. He taught in Roseburg Junior High the past year. MARY LOU PLOSS IS COMPLIMENTED AT CHARMING SHOWER Miss Mary Lou Ploss, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ploss, Roseburg, who will become the bride of Eugene Ford of Abilene, Texas, at a ceremony to be per formed this summer in Los An geles, was the insniration for a very charming bridal party Sun day afternoon, when Mrs. V. J. Micelll Mi's. Fave Lawrence and Miss Leota Wilson entertained at the beautiful Micelll home, "Grandview." Lillies and hydrangeas were ar tistically arranged about the rooms. The tea table, covered by a very attractive lace cloth, was centered with a floating bouquet of orchid spider dahlias, tall orchid and white candles and two lady-finpuerines holding orchid-colored hvdrajigeas. Miss Wilson served the punch: Mrs. Ploss poured coffee and Mrs. A. H. Jnoeer cut the ices, While Mrs. Micelli and Mrs. Lawrence assisted in serving. Visiting was enjoyed during the nleasant afternoon hours and beautiful bridal gifts were pre sented to Miss Ploss. About forty were present for the occasion. For the guessing game contest, the prize was awarded to Mrs. Margaret B. Adair. At the tea hour, lovely refreshments were enjoyed. Miss Ploss came to Roseburg with her parents several years ago. She was emDloyed at the Douglas County Clerk's ofifce and later attended University of Oregon and University of South ern California. COUNTRY CLUB MEMBERS ENJOY MIXED FOURSOME TOURNAMENT ON HOLIDAY The Rosebure Count rv Club members enjoyed a delightful mixed foursome golf tournament tne Foutn ot juiy at tne ciud- course under the direction of the Pro, Art Pearson. In the morning, the men of the club, held a flag tournament. In the tournament Mrs. J. F. Dillard and Dr. W. F. Amiot won the prize for closest to the pin; Mrs. H. S. Stearns won the prize for the longest drive for women, and Dr. Amiot and Mrs. Stearns won the low score with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Perrault winning the second low score. In the evening a potluck dinner was enioved at the clubhouse by Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Dillard, Dr. and Mrs. W. F. Amiot, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Coen and son. Mickey; Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Bridges, Mrs. J. T. During the social hours, the ladies played bridge and the men played pinochle. After darkness, the Fourth of July was celebrated with fireworks on the clubhouse lawn. MRS. J. F. DILLARD WINS LOW NET FOR GOLF PLAY WEDNESDAY The Country Club ladies met Wednesday morning at the club course with Mrs. J. F. Dillard, captain, winning the low net score with 48. Mrs. Walter Fisher won blind bogey and Mrs. H. C. Stearns had the longest drive. At noon, Mr. Simmons served luncheon to: Mrs. J. F. Dillard, Mrs. W. F. Amiot, Mrs. Frederick Chapman, Jr., Mrs. C. E. Knight, Mrs. Abe Bean, Mrs. E. J. Loney, Mrs. J. M. Judd, Mrs. Walter Fisher, Mrs. H. C. Stearns, Mrs. Ivan Pickens, Mr. and Mrs. John McClintock of Portland, and Mrs. Maurice J. Newland. Mrs. K. D. The ladies will resume the Championship Cup tournament play next Thursday morning at 8:30 o'clock. WENOLA CIRCLE HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING THURSDAY AFTERNOON Wenola Circle of the Methodist Church was delightfully enter tained Thursday afternoon by Mrs. A. J. Ellison and Mrs. J. D. Osborn at the former's home. Beautiful bouquets of delphinium and sweetpeas were used about the rooms. Mrs. R. B. Reed was elected to serve as treasurer of the circle to take the place of Miss Jennie E. .lorey, who resigned. The tables were arranged for ten ladies and were attractively placed in the lovely garden, where the outdoor fireplace was lighted and enjoyed. LOU HELEN STRANGE AND DERROLL GADWAY MARRY AT LOVELY CEREMONY At a very beautiful candlelight ceremony, Miss Lou Helen strange and Derroll E. Gadwav. both of Roseburg, were married Friday evening, Julv 5. at the bride's home. Dr. R. L. Dunn performed the Impressive double- ring ceremony at eight o'clock In the presence of relatives and close triends of the couple. The wedding music was played by Mrs. W. G. Paul and Mrs. E. A. Karcher lighted the candles. The bride was lovely In a light blue suit. She carried a white Bible topped by a spray of pink rosebuds. Miss Pat Gadway was maid of honor and was atractive in a grey suit with a fuschia gladioli corsage. Fred Welsh acted as best man. A reception followed the cere mony. Both the bride and bridegroom were, graduated from Roseburg Senior High School In 1944. The latter has served in the U. S. Army the last two vears and the bride has been a student at Lin- field College. She is a member oi zeta Chi sorority and D. O. T., sonhomore honorary. She ma jored in music. Following a honeymoon. Mr. and, Mrs. Gadwav will return to Roseburg to make their home during the summer months.
