RIVERSDALE GRANGE HAS FINE SOCIAL Riversdale Grange held its monthly social night affair at the hall Saturday evening. Members and friends attending voted it a' most successful event and re ported that similar parties are being anticipated. Bingo, cards and dancing were enjoyed, after wnicn prizes were awaraea to winners and refreshments were servec'. The grange sponsors a social night alfaii- the last Sat urday evening oi every montn. OF U. V. HONORED AT RECEPTION A reception honoring Mrs. Emma R. McLaughlin, of Vest Virginia, national president ot Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, was held at the Oshorne Hotel in Eugene Satur day evening and attended by the following from Roseburg Flor ence Nightingale Tent No. 15: Mrs. Essie Olsen, president; Ruth Plummer, Eva Ware, Marlon Pat rick, Anna Carson and Mary Peterson. SUMMER BRIDGE ' TOURNAMENT TO OPEN The ladies of the Roscbure Country Club will niect at nine o'clock Thursday morning at the club course for golfing. The golf committee has arranged special tournaments for the morning. Potluck luncheon will be served at twelve thirty o'clock. The annual summer bridge tournament play will open at one thirty o'clock. Mrs. A. G. Hen- nini;er and Mrs. Fred Lockwood are co-chairmen of the tourna ment committee and are being assisted by Mrs. L. DANCE AT FACILITY The Coos Bay Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a dancing party at the Veterans Facility Monday eve ning, May 6, from 7:45 to 10 o'clock according to an anonunce mrnt made by the representa tive of the state hospital rehabili tation commission, Mrs. Harry F. Daughters of Unions Veterans of the Civil War, has nominated Mrs. Marion Patrick lor the Ore gon Mother of 1946. " Mrs. Patrick lost her first hus band in 1933 and was left with six children to care for. She married Mr. Patrick in 1936 antl in 1940, he suffered a serious illness and so the burden of caring for the children was her's again. She had four sons In service; three in the Navy and one In the Merchant Marines nnd all four re ceived honors. Charles, chief pharmacist mate; Harry, pharm acist mate 1-c; Leo, who was aboard one of the large battle ships when It went down and was in the water 24 hours before Be ing rescued, and Richard, who made many trips in both the Pa cific and Atlantic. The four boys have all received honorable dis charges and are now working. Three of the boys are married and Charles has a son, only grandchild of Mrs. Patrick. She has been employed for eight years as a seamstress at the Veterans hospital in Roseburg. DINNERS ENJOYED AT WILBUR SUNDAY WILBUR Mr. and Mrs. C. E.
