Class to Resume The Women's Adult class in "Making Your Home More Attractive," soon sored by the state vocational edu cation department, will resume its weekly meetings Tuesday nioht at 7:30 o'clock at the home economics room of the Junior High School. The topic for the evening will be "Lighting About the Home." Rose P.-T. A. to Meet Rose P.-T. A. will hold a short busi ness session at 7:30 oclock to night at the school auditorium followed by a program, social hour and refreshments. Children from each room of the school will participate on the varied pro gram. Mrs. Omer Monger's group of girls will present two selec tions and the Rose Bluebird group will give a demonstration of their eerpmonv and work. PLEASURE BOAT OWNERS Application forms for licenses for pleasure boats may be secured from the office of the county clerk in Roseburg, or from Sherman Smiley or W. 6. Benson at Reedsport. All pleasure boats over 16 feet in length are required to be licensed. The license fee is $5.00 per calendar year for boats over 16 feet and not over 20 feet In length. For boats ' over 20 feet add $1.00 for each foot over 20. Boats 16 feet and under are not required to be licensed. This applies to all pleasure boats irrespective of motive power. Finds First Birdbill Phillip Singleton, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Singleton of Roseburg, brought in the first spring bird bill wild flower to the News Review office this year. Phillip found the birdbill in the Riddle vicinity, where he had gone to visit his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hennessy, during the spring school vacation. Visit at Ueland Home Visiting L. A. Ueland and daughter, Miss Alice Ueland, at their home in Roseburg Friday and Saturday were the former's grandchildren. Miss Alice Mae Berstler, teacher at Tillamook, Ore., and her brother, Lt. Royal Berstler, who has just recently returned from Burma, where he saw service with the Mars Task force on the Burma road. Ingram, Native Of Glide, Passes On at 80 Mrs. Mary Ruda Ingram, 80, life-long resident of Douglas and Josephine counties, died at her home in Roseburg Sunday, after a lingering illness. She was born May 17, 1865, on her father's (Thomas Shrum) donation claim at Glide. Survivine are numerous nieces and nephews in Roseburg and surrounding community. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Roseburg Funeral Home Wednesday, at 2 P. M., with Dr. Morris Roach officiating. Interment will be in Glide Cemetery. At least 18 young fighters are on the card Friday night, April 5, when Roseburg Recreation pre sents Its championship boxing bouis In the Armory, under direc tion of Coach Jimmie Garrison. In the double main event, Champion Dale Guse defends his featherweight title against Con tender Maynard Talley, and Fly weight Champion Cecil Zachery will fight the contender, Walt Wagner. Guse and Zachery are both good fighters. Garrison said, but Guse is a "public idol at best" and he goes against a boy who is "a very clever boxer and a hard hitter with either hand." As a sidelight to this champion ship bout, Garrison said he made Guse and Talley come in to prac tice at the Armory at different hours, because they "hate each other so." Garrison thinks that Talley is a "cinch to win." In the semi-finals. David Ha rem and Jack Wagoner are both contenders for the lightweight title; Fred Butler will fiht Jack Omarde, an "overrated out-of-town boy," who fought here the last time. A special event will feature Jimmie Garrison himself ex changing blows with Sgt. Bob Zachery, who is "a mighty clever boy." Other Bouts Listed Another special bout will fea ture Larrv Kvidera, aged 10, ngnting tall, lankv jacK Katezen meyer. Larrv, said his coach, is a wonderful little fighter with a K. O. punch; if he follows the fight game, he is a future pro cnamp, the coacn opines. Four blindfolded boxers, each with one glove and a can of peas which he must shake continuous ly, will provide comedy relief. If one of them falls, slips, or is knocked off his feet, he is disaual ified. Last man standing will be the winner. Other bouts will see Chuck Johnson, flvweignt. matched against Bob Smith; Raymond Hall, at lOH, fighting Jack stein- hauer. As vet unmatched are Corbett Downing, 118, and Bob Macklin, a "mighty good boy who needs a heavyweight." Other bouts will be announced as contenders sign up with Gar rison at the Armorv. Matchmak er for all bouts is Garrison. Two iudpes will be chosen from the business and sportsmen of the city and together with the ref eree, will Judge all fights. Rlntrside srnts will cost $1.50 Jar of Fish Preserved In River Survey Taken A jar containing preserved specimens of several species of small fish taken from the Ump qua River in connection with the expert study of fish life has dis appeared from tlie counting sta tion at Winchester, it was re ported today by Ross Newcomb, who is locally in charge of the game survey. The collection of specimens. Newcomb states, is of much value in connection with the study and will be difficult to replace. A business meeting and social was held in the Red Cross rooms Tuesday afternoon. While some of the workers quilted, others held their regular business meet ing. Reports from various work ers were that $t0 was collected at the Eagle Theater for the drive, $110.80 by the Rice Hill Grange and Home Economics clubs, and a turkey donated by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reeves, raffled off at the Saturday night dance, brought in $10 for the Red Cross.
