The Thimble club met Monday
afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Thomas Findluy on the Kcasey
road.
A regular business meeting was
held and the afternoon was spent
in visiting.

cub at her home Tuesday.

flowers decorated the rooms.

Mrs. Cliff Barton, Mrs. Fred Per
rv, Mrs. Sherman Morris, Mrs.
Sidney Moon, Mrs. Leah Welsh,
Mrs. Gravdon Hoover, and the
hostess, Mrs.' Robert Kieth. Mrs.
Brice was a guest at the meet
ing. Playing cards was enioyed with
Mrs. Morris winning high score
and Mrs. Moon low score in gin
rummv. Pinochle was also played
with Mrs. TicCullom as high score
winner 'and Mrs. Hoover as low.
The next meeting will be held
Tuesday, July 10, at the home
of Mrs. Earl Kennerlv.

Miss Elaine Anne Meyer, lovely
daughter of Mrv and Mrs. Rudy
H. Meyer, Lookingglass route,
Roseburg, Ore., became the bride
of Benton Lee Reding, Som 1c,
USN, son of Mrs. Clarence Miller,
Oakland, Ore., Thursday, June 7,
at a 7:30 o'clock ceremony at
the St. Paul's Lutheran church
in Roseburg. Rev. W. A. Syl
wester officiated. .
The church was decorated with
baskets of pink peonies, snap
dragons and yellow iris with low
bowls of white and pink sweet
peas and lighted candles on the
altar.
Proceeding the ceremony, Mrs.
Lewis Wilson played "To A Wild
Rose' and "Sweet Hour of
Prayer". The wedding party ap
proached the altar to the strains
of the wedding march from
Lohengrin'.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was lovely in the
traditional white dress with satin
bodice fashioned with a sweet
heart neckline and long sleeves
which came to points at the
wrist. The skirt, of net, extended
into a train. Her fingertip veil,
which had been worn by her sis
ter, was held in place with clus
ters of orange blossoms. Her only
jewelry was a single strand of
pearls, a gift from the groom.
She carried an arm bouquet of
beautiful red roses.
Mrs. Cecil Thompson, sister of
the bride, was matron of honor
and wore a formal of jersey and
net In a soft shade of pink and

carried a bouquet of mixed sweet
peas. Barbara Faye Vang, cousin of
the bride, and flower girl, wore a
dress of aqua marquisette. She
carried a small bouquet of sweet
peas and rose buds.
Best man was Ronald Meyer,
elder brother of the bride, and
the usher was Robert Meyer, also
a brother of the bride.
The bride's mother, Mrs. Meyer,
was dressed in a lovely suit of
green and wore a corsage of
sweetpeas and roses.
Mrs. Miller, mother of the
groom, wore a charming jersey
dress of spring prints and her
corsage was also of sweetpeas
and roses. '
Following the ceremony, a re
ception was held at the home
of the bride's parents in Looking
glass valley. The white linen
covered table was centered with
lighted candles and a three tiered
wedding cake topped with a
miniature bride and groom. The
rooms were decorated with lovely
roses and spring flowers.
After 'the cake had been cut by
the bride and groom, refresh
ments were served to the guests.
Miss Thelma Young was in
charge of the guest book.
For traveling the bride chose
a suit of brown with white acces
sories. After a short honeymoon

blanket or not at all there isn't much ironing equipment in
a fox hole and the only starch is In a guy's backbone. Yet
I understand that some of my friends back In the U. S. A.
are complaining about wartime laundry service! When
this thing Is over, I'll be back to help my old boss in the
laundry. Until then, do me a little favor carry on."

friends on Sunday evening, June
24th, 19-15, at their home at 1024

recently arrived home from Santo
Toman, where they were prison
ers of war for three years. . The
guests gathered around the out

periences as prisoners and the

An unusually beautiful wedding
was held at the Presbyteriun
church on Saturday evening,
June 23, when Elizabeth Frances
Campbell, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. W. M. Campbell, and Patrick
William Kilby, son of Mrs.
Charles Crowder of La Grande,'
were married by Dr. Morris H.
Roach. The Impressive double
ring ceremony was read before
the altar which was beautifully
decorated with baskets of white
flowers and tall white tapers.
As the guests assembled, Mrs.
Homer Grow played softly on the
organ. Preceding the ceremony,
the tapers were lighted by Miss
Wyona Borgen. Mr. LeRov Hiatt
sang, ''Slav as Sweet as You Are"
by Jerome Kern and "I Love You
Truly" by Carrie Jacobs Bond.
The bridal party approached
the altar to the strains of the
wedding march from "Lohen
grin". Pfc. Jane L. Relth who
was maid of honor and the bride's
Only attendant led the procession.
Miss Relth who Is a Wae and a
sorority sister of the bride wore
a beautiful aqua formal and car
ried a nosegay of pink gladioli
and sweetpeas.

Thomas L. Collins, contract rep
resentative for the Veteran's ad
ministration. The wedding party left the
church to the strains of Mendel
ssohn's wedding march.
The bride's mother, - Mrs. W.
M. Campbell, wore a pastel blue
and while ensemble with hut to
match. Her corsage was o car
nations and stephanotls.
Homer Grow, R. R. Brand and
Earl Ullrich served as ushers.
Following the ceremony, a re
ception was held in the attractive
garden at the home of the bride's
parents. The tiered wedding cake
was served from a beautifully ap
pointed table by Miss Jane Keith.

well known in Roseburg, the
bride having been graduated
from Roseburg High school and
Oregon State college. During the
past year, she has been employed
as a dietitian at the Veteran's
facility. The groom who is a
graduate of Whitman college and
who Is a veteran of the present
war Is contract representative for
the Veteran's administration with
ofifeo at Klamath Falls.
