Visiting In L a G r a n d e Miss Sally Bates, daughter of Mrs. Nova Bates of lloseburg, has left for LaGrande, Ore., to visit her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Sherrill. Called to Portland -Mrs. W. E. Cooper, who operates the Dillard store, left last night by bus for Portland, where she was called by the serious illness of her hus band, who underwent a major operation there two weeks ago. Mr. Cooper had been reported doing nicely, but Is now suffer ing irom pneumonia. Sewing Club to Meet The Glengary Sewing club will meet Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Keeling. Home on Leave Lee Reding, ROM 3C, Is home on leave visit ing his mother. Mrs. C. E. Miller. He has a .0-day leave. Shields have returned to their home in Roseburg, fol lowing three (lavs in Eusjeno vis iting the former's daughter, Mrs. Lillv Fenton. nf Sutherlin. who is in the Sacred Heart hosnitnl there receiving medical attention prior to undergoing a major operation. Grand Hotel Bldg. Sold to Operators Sale of the Grand Hotel build ing to the present operators, Payne and Albright, who have been conducting the business since the first of the year, was announced today by Mrs. Anna Mae Seemes, former proprietor, who was in Roseburg from Kla math Falls to complete the trans action. Mrs. Seemes purchased the building from Douglas county six years ago. She renovated the hotel and installed new furniture and equipment, later selling the business to J. C. Baldigan, Port land, who In turn sold the first of the year to Pavne and Albrie ht. The sale at that time included only the furnishings, fixtures and good will, Mrs. Seemes retaining ownership of the building. Sale of the building was re ported to have been in the sum of $50,000. Mrs. Seemes reports that her husband, T. J. Seemes, has pur chased and is operating a lumber mill at Chilcoot, Calif. Geddes, and other relatives and friends. Sgt. Lloyd Henson Among Liberated Prisoners Word has been received in Roseburg that Sgt. Lloyd E- Hen son of Oakridge, who has been a German prisoner since January', 1943, has been liberated, and will soon be home on a 60-day fur lough. Sgt. Henson Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henson, form erly of Roseburg, and is a nephew of Mrs. U. H. Cordon and Mrs. Roberta Howard. Nathan Fullerton Home Sold to Wm. Lindsells Mr. and Mm, Wm. Lindsell of Portland, Ore., have purchased the Nathan Fullerton home, -l!)9 E. Cass St., Roseburg and will move into the residence in the near future.
