EDWARDS There is hope lor the world conferences, theories, discov eries,, inventions are ineffec tual to deal with sin and selfish only as man recognizes that ness in the human heart. We may sweep the world clean of militarism. We may scrub the earth white of autocracy We may hang on the walls thrill ing pictures of freedom. We may carpet it with democracy and drape it with the flags of republicanism. We may show beautiful pictures of the sign ing of America's independence, or the imspiring portrait of "Joan of Arc." Yonder, the Magna Charter, and the stir ring words of Garibaldi . We may spend effort and energy to make the world paradise itself, where the Lion of Capi talism can lie down with the proletariat lamb. But if we turn into that splendid room mankind with the same old heart, "deceitful," and "des perately wicked," we may ex pect to have to clean house again, not many days hence. What we need is a "Peace Con ference," with the "Prince of Peace." Men are quite willing to wrangle for religion, write for it, fight for it, die for it. But the world today desperately needs men and women who will live for it. "Let me live the life of the righteous, that my last end may be like Him," (Arthur Brisbnne. ) - -Amen. "Communism, capitalism or Christanity" is the sermon topic Sunday night, 8 p. m., at the First iBabtist Church. This is the con tinuation of the sermon last Sun iriav niirht on "Tho San Fran cisco Conference Will it Bring Peace". Will communism sweep Europe and China and does it have roots In the U. S.?
