Yocum of Route 1, Roseburg, and Jake Wilson also of Roseburg were admitted to Mercy hospital Wednesday, it was reported from the hospital today. Visiting in Roseburg Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Rosheim. of San Francisco are visitinc at the home of the former's sister, Mrs. Jonetta Hendrickson on East Douglas street in Roseburg. Purchases Farm at Tenmilc I-ieut. and Mrs. Cecil C. Carroll, recently from Seattle, have pur chased a farm at Tenmile, across from the Rathkey service sta tion. Lieut. Carroll has spent 18 months overseas and was re turned for special schooling in New Jersey. He has been with the Alaska communication , sys tem at Seattle, and expects to leave soon for Alaska. . Mrs. Carroll worked as librarian - in the public library at Seattle.' Slie is u graduate of Colorado " col lege and took post-graduate work at Columbia university in New York city. Arrives For Summer Mrs. Lee Wimberly of Los Angeles has ar rived in - Roseburg to spend the summer visiting her two sisters and -brother. Mrs. Emma Lenox, Mrs. Jess Hicks and Earl Bene dict. She was met in Eugene Tuesday night by Mrs. Hicks and brought to Roseburg. She is a former resident of this citv. Leave For South Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Keach and two daughters, Marilyn and Jean, have left for their new home in Eureka, Calif., following a stop over in Roseburg to visit friends en route south trom foulsoo, Wash. The Keach family resided in Douglas county before moving to vvasmngion. Will Spend Leave Here Lt. Virgil Sanders, of the U. S. trans port command, who has been stationed in Texas, following his return to the states from the Burma theater, arrived in Rose burg Wednesday to spend his leave visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Sanders, and family. Yesterday, Mr. Sanders and Clyde Wiard went to Port land to meet the Sanders' older son, Lt. George Sanders, Fort Lewis, who will return home with them to spend his leave. Lt. George Sanders has been serving overseas for the last three years. Chllsons Return Mr. and Mrs. B.. Fi Chilson have returned to their1 home-in Roseburg, following a trip to Sandy, Orecon, to. at tend the graduation e.'jrclses of the Sandy Union High school to see the latter's "randdauphter. Charline, take part in the exer cises as valedictorian of her class. Miss Charline won a scholarship to University of Oregon and also won the Del Butler award in science and the Reader's Digest nrize for highest grades, making 31 perfect points out of the 32 points required lor graduation. She will attend University of Ore gon this fall. She Is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thurston, of Sandy, and formerly resided here, at which time she was a student at Fullerton school. Person knowing the pres ent whereabouts of any of the men are requested to communi cate with the selective service board at the courthouse in Rose burg. The men listed, and their last known addresses, are Fred Smith, Dellwood, Ore.; John Phil lips and Mannie Vernon Andrews, Reedsport, and Robert George Hutton, Gresham. Motor Stage Service Via McKenzie Pass Resumed Motor stage service has been resumed by way of the McKenzie pass between Eugene, liend and Boise, Wm. Niskanen, assistant general manager of the Pacific Traihvays, reported here Thurs day. The company is preparing to inaugurate service to Sail Lake City in the near future, he stated. Mr. Niskanen, representative to the state legislature from Des chutes county, conferred at Davs Creek to day with Carl C. Hill, Douglas county representative, regarding fish and game.matters, as both ar members of the House committee on game, Mr. Niskan en being committee chairman. Dance, Box Social Dated At Veterans Facility A dance and box social will be held by the local unit of the Na tional Federation of Federal Em ployes at the recreation building at the Veterans facility Saturday night, June 2, at 8 o'clock and all government employes and friends are invited. This invita tion has also been extended to the medical detachment on ser vice at the facility. There will be no admission charge- Ladies are asked to bring box lunches and the boxes will be placed on sale at the supper hour, follow ing the dance. The committee reports that the boxes need not be decorated. Five prizes will be awarded during the evening. KRNR Broadcasts to Begin at Earlier Time Starting Monday morning, Radio Station KRNR will go on the air 15 minutes earlier each week-day morning. The station will start its daily 15i-hour sched ule at 6:30 a. m. Recent network changes have necessitated several early morning program shifts. The 4-H club and county agent programs will be heard on Tues day and Thursday mornings at 6:45, and a new network show, Smile Time, takes over the 7:15 to 7:30 period Mondav through Friday. . , . , ; , j Gerald Gilbo Elected Lions Club President Gerald J.
