Sojclnttj and CIu6a By LOTUS KNIGHT PORTER DESSERT-SUPPER IS : ENJOYABLE AFFAIR SUTHERLIN Mrs. Belle Cook and Mrs. Bertha Barge, en tertained at a charming seven thirty o'clock dessert-supper at the former's home Wednesday evening lor the Past Noble Grand elub. Holiday colors carried out a pretty motif for the occasion. Covers were placed for: Guests, Mrs. Martha Coenenberg and Mrs. Norma Daubenspeck and the following members: Mrs. Ha zel Green, Mrs. Sarepta Saucor man, Mrs. Maude Culver, Mrs. Marie Schelbourne, Mrs. Ella Wegner, Mrs. Savilla Bambor, Mrs. Charlotte Parker, Mrs. Le ona Slack, Mrs. Alma Anderson, Mrs. Juanita Holgate, Mrs. Ma ble Ross, and the hostesses, Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Barge. The business meeting was call ed to order by the president, Mrs. Parker and all absent members were accounted for. Mrs. Green said she had considerable Bed Cross knitting and if anyone was willing to knit to please get in touch with her. Mrs. Saucerman, who has the Red Cross sewing, stated that there wore many dresses and other articles to be made and that material could be obtained by contacting her. After the meeting was closed, the evening was spent in playing bingo, with the following winning prizes: Mrs. Norma Daubenspeck, Mrs. Juanita Holgate, Mrs. Maude Culver, Mrs. Leona Slack, Mrs. Hazel Green and Mrs. Belle Cook. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Alma Ander son with Mrs. Green assisting on Wednesday, eb. 7 at 7:30. GARDEN VALLEY WOMEN'S CLUB MEETS ON THURSDAY The Garden Valley Women's club met at the clubhouse Thurs day with Mrs. O. V. Michel as hostess. Service news was given by Mrs. Hugh Ritchie. Those enloying the occasion included: Mrs. Clifford Hess, Mrs. Clem Schneider, Mrs. Harding Knapp, Mrs. Joseph Goberville, Mrs. Ed Thurlow, Mrs. Graham Ewens, Mrs. Harvey Ewens, Mrs. C. L. GLENGARY SEWING CLUB HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING The Glengary Sewing club met Thursday at I lie home of Mrs. Ar thur McGhehey with 10 members and two visitors present. Mrs. Karl McCown was elected i new president' and Mrs. Charles! Keeling, vice piesioent. nils. Mil sley was re elected secretary. Delirious refreshments were served by the hosless, following the enjoyable social hour. The club will meet January IS at the homo of Mrs. Myrtle Thompson. The lovely dinner was served cafeteria style from a beautifully arranged table, present wore Mr. and Mis. P. G. Hanson, Mr. and Mis. L. C. Johns and sons Leonard and Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barnes, and daughter, Betty and sons George and Bobby of Camas Valley, Paul Hanson and Mrs. v. K. urlce of Klamath Falls. mother of Mrs. Hanson and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hanson, and sons Donnie and Glen and daugh ter Margie, following the lovely dinner gifts were exchanged and visiting was enjoyea. SCOUTS ENJOY OVERNIGHT HIKE CAMAS VALLEY The Boy Scouts had an overnight hike on New Year's eve. Eight boys with their leader, Guy Moore, hiked about four miles over the old road on Camas mountain in the late afternoon on Sunday. They made their beds on the hay in the Moore barn and then went to the woods and cooked a Mulligan stew for their supper. They had games and story telling around the camp fire after which they went to the house for a feed of pop corn, apples and nuts. Mr. Moore gave them a talk on scout ing and some of the things they are studying to pass tests. The next morning they had breakfast of hot cakes and syrup and play ed games and some passed tests before they returned to their homes. MRS. PARROTT IS HOSTESS TO CLUB CAMAS VALLEY Mrs. Jack Parrott entertained the Garden club for their regular meeting in her spacious home on Tuesday afternoon. THOMPSON ENTERTAIN AT DINNER MELROSE Mr. and Mrs. II. G. Thompson, entertained at a very lovely turkey dinner, at their home Monday at eight o' clock. The rooms of the Thompson home were decorated with the Christmas motif and a beautifully decorated tree, and Christmas decorations were used on the well arranged table, at which covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. Ray S. Petrequin and son, John, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Seely. and the host and hosless Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. Cards and visiting were enjoy ed during the evening. MRS. Cleveland, in Lookingglass. Then she went to the home ol her son, Virgil Long, in Melrose to spend a week before returning home. Among the young women who came home to spend Christmas with their folks were: Lorene PeriTi Ellen Jqies and Polly Roberts, who work in Roseburg; Esther Brown, who teaches there; Virginia Garlinghouse, who at tends high school - in Roseburg; Marcraret Brown, who works in Frtland, and Joy Sanders, who attends school at Laurelwood, near Portland. Mr: Henry from Eugene spent Christmas with his granddaugh ter, Rozelle Brown. Mrs. Tom Seigel is In Seattle visiting with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Markham. Mrs. Harry Rose was home for the holidays from her work in the bank. Mrs. Adrian Standley and sons Richard and Jimmy, from Glide, and Mrs. Alma Parrott and daughter Pauline, of Roseburg, had Christmas dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Parrott. Mrs. Knighten of Days Creek has been secured as a grade school teacher for the rest of the school year. Mrs. Bert Krogel has been ill for several days. Ralph Richter has sold his ranch and is to give immediate possession.
