Carl Buoklund and their sons, Paul and Arthur, entertained with a seven-thirty supper and party at their home. The rooms were deco rated In the Christmas motif, and there was a beautifully decorated tree. 1 Those enjoying the evening were Mr. and Mrs Stanley Sjo gren and sons Dickie and Dennis, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Backlund, Roy Sjogren, Mrs. Helen Thnckery and daughters, Karen and Mary lin of Mvrtle Creek, Alvin An derson, Paul and Arthur Back lund, and Mr. and Mis. 'Back lund. Following the supper gifts were exchanged and visiting was enjoyed until a late hour. RIDDLE SCHOOL PRESENTS PROGRAM RIDDLE A large crowd at tended the Christmas program given by the Riddle school Thurs day evening. The program was presented in the .large gymnasi um which was beautifully deco rated with a lighted Christmas tree, evergreens and a beautiful stage setting, arranged by Mrs. Wallace. Miss Woodruff of the 7th and 8th grades, Mrs. Bryant 5th and 6th. Mrs. Blundell, 4th and 5th, and Mrs. Wallace,, 1st and 2nd, each gave a number on the program. Prof. Lclnkaemper, principal of the school led the community singing and directed the high school girls in singing carols. ANNUAL PARTY IS HELD BY LODGE RIDDLE Members of Relief Rebekah lodge at Riddle enjoyed their annual Christmas party Wednesday evening following the regular business session. Gifts were exchanged and a social hour was enjoyed. The December birthdays were also honored at this meeting. Refreshments were served at a table decorated in the holiday theme. The committee in charge of the dining room was Grace Bates, Lora Riddle and Et ta Mosthaf. One of a large stock found in Gestapu headquarters in Aachen, it is a Nazi "Victory Cap." Brandt says that he was told in Aachen that the Germans were so sure of crushing the Allies that they had not only designed, but had octu-; ally produced this guudy headgear, to be worn by German officers in the victory parades in Paris, London, Moscow and, likely enough to the Nazi mind, Washington. II is flashy and cocky-looking, but like so many things Nazi, its phony quality becomes apparent on ' close examination. Sutheiiin P.-T. HOLGATE ENTERTAIN AT DINNER SUTHERLIN Mr. and Mrs. Vern Holgate, entertained at a very lovely turkey dinner New Years day at their home on Third avenue. The table was very pretty with its center piece in the holi day colors flanked by tall red tapers. Covers were placed for: Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Thompson and two sons, Wesley and Stephen, of Cottage Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cornish and two daughters. Ila and Evelyn: and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Holgate and two sons, Lloyd and Gordon. The pleasant afternoon was spent in visiting and enjoying the beautiful sunny day.
