Plans were, made for a rum mage sale to be held at the Rose burg Woman's clubhouse, oppo site Hunt's Indian theatre, Satur day, May 13. Parents and friends are asked to send their donations to the schoolhouse or are asked to call 219 and the articles will be called for. The sale will be held all-day. Mrs. A. W. Bashford has charge of pre-sale arrangements and Mrs. Gordon Bennett Is chair man of the sale., , . ,., , , , A tea followed , the, business meeting with the pre-school chil dren and their mothers being en tertained by the first grade stu dents, who demonstrated their ability to read and sing. , Mary Sullivan played the piano during the tea hour. Coast Guard, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer C. Pago, of Salem, for merly of Roseburg, . and Miss Catherine May DeLeo, beautiful daughter of Mr. and .Mrs. Tony DeLeo, of Port Townsend, Wash., at the St. Mary's Star of the Sea church in that city on April 18. The Rev. Father Robert Dillon performed the impressive cere mony at 11:30 o'clock in the morn ing in the presence r ' more than a hundred friends and relatives of the couple. The wedding took place on the 24th wedding anniversary of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony DeLeo, who, incidently, were the first to be married in St. Mary's Star of the Sea church. A very lovely white theme was carried out in the church decora tions, which Included: calla lilies, white stock, carnations and snap dragons. Music for the ceremony included sacred hymns sung by Mrs. .Frank Surmoycr, accom panied by Mrs. Montleth at the organ; , .,. . .,; The bride was very beautiful in a tip toe length wedding gown of white satin, fashioned with a full-length train and a yoke of Inserted lace. Her finger-tip veil was held In place by a coronet of stephanotis. She carried a Coloni al shower bouquet of gardenias, llllcsof thevallcy and stephano tis Miss Margaret Rose Fraser, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor and was charming In a floor-length gown of rose satin. She carried a colonial bouquet of Enchantress carnations. A soft blue-colored feather headdress completed her ensemble. Frank Surmcyor, of the U. S. Coast Guard and a former college friend of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Hollln U. Page, brother of the bridegroom, nnd James Caldwell, cousin of the bride, were ushers. Mrs. DeLeo and Mrs. Page, mothers of the couple, both woio attractive ensembles of navy blue and corsages of gardenias and rosebuds. . i A reception followed the nup tials at the home of the bride. Mrs. James DeLeo, sister-in-law of the bride, served the cake, The bride's bouquet was caught hy Miss Dee Thompson, a sororl ty sister. Following the reception, a wed ding dinner was served the faml ly and out-of-town guests, in the, attractive Marine, dining, room of the Palms cafe overlooking fort Townsend bay. Special ar- rangements of snapdragons, sweetpeas, stock and carnations were used, while the bride's table was centered by a bowl of roses, flanked by tall lighted tapers. The bride attended Metropoli tan business college in Seattle and has been attending the Uni versity of Washington and Is af filiated with Phi Mu sorority. The bridegroom is cxcepllon ally well-known In Roseburg, hav ing made his home here with his parents, while his father was connected with the Lockwood Motor company. He later return ed to Winchester to make his home with his grandmother, Mrs. Agnes H. Page, for two years and during that time was a stu dent at the Wilbur school. He was very popular here and has a large, number of friends in this county. After being graduated from high school in Salem, he atlended Oregon State and is now In the U. S. Coast .Guard., For traveling the bride chose a street dress of soft rose ma terial, with matching hat, while her topcoat was of pastel blue color. She wore a corsage of g:ir denias and rosebuds. Following the dinner, t h c couple left Port Townsend on the Iroquois on their honeymoon. Preceding the wedding, the hiido-clect was honored at a large shower given in Seattle by her sororlly sisters and on April 13 was guest of honor at a charming linen shower given by her cousin, Margaret Rose Fraser. Tho group is making a study of leaves of trees and plants. Games were also enjoyed by the fifteen members, after which the leaders served treats of pop and fudgeclclcs. Mrs. Hunley, the former Nancy Lou Fulps, was employed before. her marriage at tho Roseburg Woolworth store. Mr. Hunley, a former employee ol the Roseburg Safeway store, is now on duty in the South Pa cific war area. Visitors Leave Mrs. Pearl Hooper and her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Osborne, and their daughters, Barbara Ann and Eunice Marie, have returned to their homes in Portland, following a visit at tho home of Mrs. Hooper's son-in-law and daughter, Mr, and Mrs. Dale Giiiley, near the Country club on the North Umpqua. They made the trip to Roseburg to be with Captain and Mrs. Samuel Mc Gaughey and baby , daughter, Marianne, who were here from Visalia, Calif., where Captain McGaughey is stationed as com mandant of cadets at Sequoia ar my air field. Finlay is now reported to be im proving in health at the Sacred Heart hospital, where he under went an appendectomy several weeks ago and later was stricken by typhoid fever. Mrs. Finlay is remaining in Eugene with him.
