Mr. Brown was called here on account of the serious condition of his : father. Clay Brown, who lias been con fined In the Mercy hospital for several months. , , Clay Brown, who. has been con fined In Mercy hospital, Rose burg for the past four months from injuries received while working in the woods, underwent an operation last Monday ana had his foot amputated. Mrs. Brown reports that he is getting along very nicely and that he wants to be home for Christmas. The Sutherlin fire department was called out Friday noon for a fire in the Super Cream living ouarters. The fire was kept from spreading and only damaged the one room except lor water ana smoke damage. J. C. Parrott and daughter, Peg gy, were confined to their home the past week by Illness . Harry S. Private William Leisenger from Camp Roberts, Calif., is home on furlough to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Leisenger. Cliff Parrott, who has been very ill the past week from the flu, has contracted pneu monia. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cooper and daughter, Mary, shopped and vis ited in Eugene Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barker have rented the residence of Mrs. Mary Hayner and moved their house hold goods there the mid dle of last week.
