Schoeninger, 48, of De troit Thursday was unanimously elected commander-in-chief o f the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He succeeds Robert T. Merrill of Havre, Mont. Mrs. Amelia C. Cane of Pitts burgh, Pa., was elected national president of the ladles' auxiliary of the V. F. W. to succeed Mrs. Marie Dewitt of St. Paul. In a resolution adopted at the annual convention the delegates declared that post war coopera tion between nations should not involve any loss of sovereignty by the United States. The veterans also adopted a resolution calling on congress to pass a joint resolution repudiat ing a projected plan to officially designate a "four-freedoms" flag to be flown with the Stars and Stripes. Congress also was asked by the veterans to appropriate $500,000, 000 to improve facilities and Hos pitals used by wounded veterans. The resolutions were adopted after delegates had voted over whelmingly to table a resolution dealing with admittance of serv ice women to the V. I.
