(AP) -Mrs. Catherine WriKht, 20, ac cused kidnaper of baby Judith 'iurney was ordered held for thn Linn county grand Jury today and slip expressed a desire to "avoid all unnecessary formality and f?el this over with as quickly as pos sible." With her rourt-appointcd attor ney, Edward Sox, Mrs. Wright appeared before Justice of the Peace Victor Olliver to complete her arraignment. ELEVENTH AIR F O UCE HEADQUARTERS, Aug. 12- -(delayed) (AP) Heavy army bomb ers which loosed 18 Ions of bombs and 4,500 pounds of incendiaries on Japan's northernmost naval and air base at Pararnushlro yes terday came in at 12,000 feet and "took their own sweet time" in picking targets, returning pilots said today. Of the nine raiding planes two did not return to Attu, but they may have made emergency land ings on Russia's Kamchatka pen insula, which is within sight of the Japanese-held Kurile island stronghold. Although our raid was in mid day, enemy fighter planes were Leslie Peterson, Butler's assistant chief of staff, tabulated the fol lowing results of the two Para mushiro raids: In the first raid, carried out by six Liberators, 30 quarter-ton bombs were dropped from 000 feel. In the second, the nine Libera tors dropped 72 quarter-ton de molition bombs and 25 incendiary clusters. Korty-five quarter tons and 15 clusters were dropped on the army supply base and the remaining bombs and incendiar ies on navy base targets. Army officers said the nine bomber raid "is only a feeler there are more coining." Rat-ions for Motorists In Central States Cut CHICAGO, Aug. 13. (API The Chicago Tribune said today gasoline ration for motorists in central and midwestern states would be cut 25 per cent at mid night Sunday. Paul M. O'Leary, fuel ration ing chief of the Office of Price Administration in Washington, was said by the newspapers to have disclosed the size and plans of the reduction in a memoran dum to regional OPA administrators. Hines, employed in the U. S. Merchant Marine, was not deterred by a Slio fine im posed recently on a speeding charge, Sergeant Paul Morgan of the state police reimrled today. Uines paid a fine of $100 in the local justice court today, after being taken into custody for the second time. With a party of friends, he was arrested earlier in the month for travelling at an excessive rate of speed and posted $2; bail, which was for feited by non-appearance in court. Yesterday he was again picked up by a state policeman, who reported, Morgan said, that llines' expensive automobile al most skidded off a curve due lo excessive speed. Drawing Necessary On Requests for Doe Tags PORTLAND, Aug. 13 (AP) A drawing will lie necessary to determine who will receive tags permitting the hunting of doe deer in Grant county and cow elk in northeastern Oregon, the state game commission said to day. The commission set next Thurs day for the drawing but said only applications on file in the olfice here at ! p. m., Monday would he considered. The draw ing was ordered because applica tions exceed the number of tags available. The commission said drawings probably would not be necessary lor other areas where special lags are required. High School Boy Is New Catcher For the Angels Ry FRANK FRAWLEY LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13 (AP) - Here's a new saga of Billy the Kid. He is, for the purpose of exact identification, Billy Sarni. Onlv 10 years old. Not yet out of high school. Yet, he's the first string catch er of the Los Angeles Baseball club, a team that is running away from the pack in the Paci fic coast league. A series of accidents projected the beardless Billy into the spot light. First, Eddie Fernandes was injured, and a few days later Bil Iv Holm went out with a split linger. The Angels didn't have a catcher. In desiM-ration President Clar ence (Pants) Rowland went to Sarni's parents. They hed inter vened against flattering offers from various major league clubs - the Pittsburgh pirates, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. Billy, they reason ed, should stay at home and in school. But Rowland was persua sive, and, aided and abetted by a $10,000 bonus, one ol the high est ever made by a class AA base ball club, won over the parents.
