James A. Hines, employed in
the U. S. Merchant Marine, was

charge, Sergeant Paul Morgan of
the state police reimrled today.

the Kid.
He is, for the purpose of exact
identification, Billy Sarni. Onlv
10 years old. Not yet out of high
school.
Yet, he's the first string catch
er of the Los Angeles Baseball
club, a team that is running
away from the pack in the Paci
fic coast league.
A series of accidents projected
the beardless Billy into the spot
light. First, Eddie Fernandes was
injured, and a few days later Bil
Iv Holm went out with a split
linger. The Angels didn't have
a catcher.

ence (Pants) Rowland went to
Sarni's parents. They hed inter
vened against flattering offers
from various major league clubs
- the Pittsburgh pirates, Boston

sive, and, aided and abetted by
