Many dainty and useXul gifts were pre sented to Mrs. Reetz and after a social hour the hostesses served refreshments. MISS JEAN McGEE CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY DAYS CREEK, Aug. 13. Miss Jean McGee was complimented at a charming birthday party Thurs day afternoon when her mother Mrs. Guy McGee, Invited a num ber of her friends to her attract ive home on the Days Creek-Can-onvilie road. Gorgeous bouquets of gladioli with clusters of huckle berry formed an effective decor ative note about the rooms. Table games were the diversion of the afternoon and delicious refresh ments were served later to the honoree. Miss Jean McGee, and Miss Norma and Miss Jean Dun can, Miss Alice Ward, Miss Donna Sumner, Miss Beverly Worthing ton, Fiorette McGee and the hostess, Mrs. McGee. Girl's Purse, Los During Rubber Salvage, Is Found Ernest Pearson, who served as chairman of the rubber salvage campaign here, reported today that a purse, lost by a local girl at the time the rubber matinee was held at Hunt's Indian thea ter, has been recovered. At the time the matinee was held, chil dren were admitted to a special show by donations of rubber. Aft er the rubber had been loaded on a truck, one girl discovered she had left her purse In a package of small articles and, although search was made, it was not found. Yeoterday, the rubber was load ed for shipment, and loaders were asked to keep a lookout for the purse and succeeded in finding it. The name of the girl was not kept, but the purse has been left with the Indian theater manage ment, Pearson said, and can be recovered by the owner making proper Identification. It contained a small amount of money. Troops May Take Over Plant Tied by Strike WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 (API Chairman William H. Davis of the war labor board indicated after a white house conference to day that troops might be sent to the strike-closed General Cable company plant at Bayonne, N. J., unless the strikers quickly end iheir defiance of a board order refusing them a wage increase. Davis said the same situation existed as at the North American aviation plant at Inglewood, Calif., the first taken over by the federal government, where troops moved in after rioting broke out. The North Ame!:.:;i plant sub sequently was led? ied to' prl-' yate operation. Soldier A. W. O. L Held Here for Authorities Jack Matthews, who, Justice of the Peace Ira B. Riddie stated, ad mits being A. W. O. L. from the U. S. marine base at San Fran cisco, was in custody here today awaiting arrival of military au thorities. He was picked up last night by state police upon in structions from the marine base, and was sentenced this morning to 20 days for vagrancy, with an order that the Jail sentence be terminated when military auth orities arrive to take him Into custody. His home was reported to be in San Francisco. Coles Brorhers Circus Doted in Roseburg I Coles Brothers circus has been dated for two shows in Roseburg Sept. 10, It was announced today. An advance agent was in the city to procure a license and make arrangements for the afternoon and evening shows, which will be presented at Bellows field. The circus is travelling by special train. The Sulli van family plans to take the Ken tucky visitors on a trip to Corval- lis next week and will also take them on sight-seeing trips to coast points.
