The room was beautifully dec orated in a blue, pink and white motif. A large table decorated with colored streamers and cen tered with a bassinette, held many lovely gifts. GALLOPING TEAS GIVEN AS 4 H BENEFIT AFFAIRS The Riversdale community club sponsored two galloping teas dur ing the last week as benefit af fairs for 4-H scholarships for stu dents of the Riversdale school. On March 9th the .group sur prised Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Pfaff with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kruse acting as host and hostesss for the evening's entertainment. Hounshell, who has resigned as president of the Wo man's Society of Christian Ser vice of the Methodist church and plans to move soon to the north ern part of the state, was honored at a very charming handkerchief shower and party Tuesday after noon at the Rev. J. B. Needham home on Jackson street, when Mrs. Needham and Mrs. A. J. Starmer, graciously entertained a group of ladies. The hostesses were assisted by Mrs. Needham's daughter, Mrs. Luclen Cobb, and the many beau tiful handkerchiefs were present ed to Mrs. Hounshell by little Mary Margaret Cobb. A beau tiful corsage was also given to Mrs. Hounshell. PARGETER JOSSE TEA IS CHARMING AFFAIR SATURDA One of the most charming af fairs of the month was the tea given Saturday afternoon at the beautiful H. O. Pargcter home on Claire street, when Mrs. Pargc ter and Mrs. L. W. Josse invited a large group of friends to call be tween the hours of three and five o'clock. The beautiful pink and white magnolia trees and numerous spring flowering shrubs and trees are now in full bloom in the attractive gardens surround ing the home. Magnolias and plum blossom sprays with tall lighted tapers graced the attractively appointed lace covered tea tabic, while large bouquets of forsythla and daffo dils were used in the living room and receptoin hall. Alice Myers, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Myers, and Floyd Felt, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Felt, Sr., were married at a very beautiful home wedding Saturday evening, March 14th, at the home of the brides parents. Rev. Melville T. Wire, pastor of the Methodist church, performed the impressive cere mony at eight o'clock In the pres ence of relatives of the couple. Baskets of plum blossoms and potted ferns flanked the impro vised altar. There were no at tendants. The bride wore a very attractive two-piece bicge street ensemble and a corsage of gar denias. The bride's mother wore a light blue afternoon dress and a carnation corsage and the bridegroom's mother also wore a light blue afternoon dress with a corsage of carnations. An informal reception followed the wedding ceremony, at which time the bride cut the beautifully decorated wedding cake, which l was topped by a miniature bride U. OF O. MOTHERS CLUB HAS LUNCHEON MEETING WEDNESDAY The University of Oregon Mothers club held an enjoyable twelve-thirty o'clock no-hostess luncheon meeting Wednesday at the Hotel Umpqua. Mrs. H. Wat- zig, president, conducted the meet ing and plans were outlined for the annual spring tea and the ten tative date was set for April 22. Mrs. Watzig appointed Mrs. Carl E. Wimbcrly and Mrs. L. E. Gar wood as joint general chairman of the affair. Other committees will be announced in the near future. The University of Ore gon Mothers tea last spring was "one of the largest and most charming social events of the year and the club hopes to make this year's event equally as enjoy able. The next regular meeting of the club will be held at a twelve-thirty o'clock no-hostess luncheon at the Hotel Umpqua April 15. NEW IDEA CLUB MEETS AT ENJOYABLE LUNCHEON WEDNESDAY Mrs. V. R. The bridegroom was graduated from Lookingglass high school in 1940 and is now employed by a log ging concern at Fairview, Ore. Following a honeymoon to points north, Mr. and Mrs. Felt will make their home at Fairview. L. Spencer home on North Jackson street, when the B. P. W. C. held an antique exhibit to raise funds for the con vention to be held here in May. Among the numerous Interest ing articles on display included: three pieces of china from Prus sia, which were exhibited by Mrs. Mack Brown, of 418 South Main street. . MID-WEEK BIBLE CLASS HAS INTERESTING MEETING AT SYLWESTER HOME The Mid-Week Bible class of St. Paul's Lutheran church held a very Interesting meeting Thursday atternoon at the home of Mrs. W. A. Sylwester with Miss Alvina Meusch as joint hostess. -The scripture lesson was a part of St. Paul's letter on giv ing and the lesson study was fat. Matthew, chapter 6. GARDEN VALLEY WQMEN'S CLUB HAS DELIGHTFUL MEETING ON THURSDAY Mrs. Fred Woods very gracious ly entertained the members of the Garden Valley Women's club at the clubhouse Thursday after noon. LOUIS FULLERTON ENTERTAINS LUNCHEON BRIDGE CLUB WEDNESDAY Mrs. Louis Fullerton very gra ciously entertained her bridge club at a lovely one-thirty o'clock luncheon Wednesday at the Ho tel Umpqua. Current and ma gnolia blossoms graced the pret tily appointed table, where covers were placed for: Mrs. William Moore, and Mrs. John M. Raish, guests, and Mrs. L. L. Wimbcrly, Mrs. Frank Long, Mrs: J. P.-Mob schenbacher, Mrs. Adrian Fisher, Mrs. Phil Harth and the hostess, Mrs. Fullerton. Following the luncheon the group went to the attractive home of the hostess for contract bridge. Lovely bouquets of daffodils and lorsythia were used about the rooms. High score for the after noon's bridge play was won by Mrs. Raish with Mrs. Harth win ning the second high score and the traveling prize. MR. AND MRS. FRENCH CELEBRATE FORTY-FIFTH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. O. W. French celebrated their forty-fifth wed ding anniversary Sunday at a very lovely three-thirty o'clock turkey dinner at their home at Sutherlin. The anniversary date of Mr. and Mrs. French is March 17th, but the occasion was cele brated on Sunday, so that the entire family could attend. Covers were placed at a beauti fully appointed table for Mr. and Mrs. O. W. French; the former's mother, Mrs. M. W. French, of Sutherlin; the Frcnchs' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Chapman, of Yoncalla, and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne French, of Port land. MRS. T. H. NESS ENTERTAINS BRIOGE CLUB AT LUNCHEON The St. Patrick's motif and sprays of spring blossoms graced the beautifully appointed table used by Mrs. T. H. EPISCOPAL GUILD PLANS RUMMAGE SALE FOR SATURDAY St. George's Episcopal Guild met Monday evening at the home (of Mrs. Will H. Gerretsen on Blakley street with Mrs. L. A. Diliard as joint hostnssrs. Mrs. H. H. Turner, picsmcm, conducted the business session and plans were made for an all day rummage sale to be held next Saturday, March 2Sth, at the par ish hall on East Cass street. LILAC CIRCLE HAS INTERESTING MEETING MONDAY EVENING Lilac Circle Neighbors of Wood craft met for their annual ad vance night'Monday evening, Jan uary 16th with a good attendance. Their Incoming officers work J was given and initiation held. A new march was featured by Mrs. Walter P. Frederickson, mu sician, called U for Unity, and was composed by Mrs. Vernon Orr, who graciously presented the Woodcraft lodge with a copy. M. Campbell home the last three months and left Monday for points south en route back to Mis souri. Forsythia, yellow narcissi and violets formed a pretty motif for the occasion.
