WILCOX .HONORED AT FAREWELL 'DINNER PARTY FRIDAY Mr. and Mrs. John William Robertson and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Founds entertained at a charming six-thirty o'clock potluck dinner party Friday evening honoring Mr. and Mrs. George Wlleox, who will move to Lebanon, where Mr. Wilcox has been transferred by the Shell Oil company. The party was enjoyed at the attractive Robertson home on North Jackson street. The buf fet table, covered by a beautiful white hand.made lace cloth, was centered by a bowl of heather and tall lavender candles. Games were enjoyed during the social hour. A handkerchief shower was given to Mrs. Wilcox and the Shell Oil company men presented , a fountain pen to Mr. Wilcox. Those enjoying the evening with Mr. and Mrs. Robertson and Mr. and Mrs. Pound, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox, included: Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Farchet and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Horn, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Cooper, ftklr. and Mrs. Clay V. Moore, Mr. "ind Mrs. Clyde Hammond, Lynn Beckley and Camille Anne and John Marvin Robertson. Mr. Wilcox moved to Lebanon Sunday and will be joined there this week-end by his family. Mrs. Wilcox was formerly Miss Agnes Burt of this city. EPISCOPAL GUILD PLANS SHROVE TUESDAY SUPPER FOR FEB. 17TH St. George's Episcopal Guild met Monday afternoon at the at tractive home of Mrs R. R. Brand in West Moreland with Mrs. Theo Bond and Mrs. William Bond, as sisting hostesses. Mrs. H. H. Turner, president, conducted the meeting and plans were made for a Shrove Tuesday pancake and waffle supper to be fteld at the parish hall from 5:30 fo 7:30 o'clock the evening of February 17th. The public has been cordially invited to enjoy the affair. Mrs. R. R. Brand, Mrs. Theo Bond, Mrs. William Bell, Mrs. James E. Judd and Mrs. J. M. Judd are in charge of the project. During the afternoon the ladies did Red Cross sewing. At the tea hour Mrs. Brand, Mrs. Bond and Mrs. Bell served lovely re freshments to: Mrs. H. H. Tur ner, Mrs. Etta Davies, Mrs. H. T. Horan, Mrs. P. Whitmore, Mrs. J. C. McCallister, Mrs. W. Hutch ins, Mrs. Charles Russell, Mrs. Smith, Sr., Rev. and Mrs. Perry Smith, Mrs. G. C. Finlay, Mrs. Parker and Mrs. J. C. Hume. . The next regular meeting of the Guild will be at 8 o'clock the evening of February lQth at the home of Mrs. James E. Judd with Mrs. J. M. Judd as joint hostess. GARDEN VALLEY WOMEN'S CLUB HAS ENJOYABLE 9 EETING ON THURSDAY The Garden Valley Women's club members were most cordially entertained by Mrs. C. L. Spray at the clubhouse Thursday after noon. Mrs. Hugh Ritchie, chair man for Garden valley, gave a very interesting explanation of plans recently made for registra tion of women in Oregon for na tional defense. During the very pleasant social hour, delicious refreshments were served, carrying out the Valen tine motif, by the hostess, Mrs. Spray, to Mrs. Emma Williams, Mrs. G. C. Bailey, Mrs. R. A. Cal houn, Mrs. Frank Douglas, Mrs. Harvey Ewens, Mrs. R. S. Hut ton, Mrs. W. D. Love, Mrs. Hugh Ritchie, Mrs. A. N. Schneider, TVIrs. Clem Schneider, Mrs. Peter Sinclair, Mrs. William Vaughn and Mrs. .Fred Woods. The next meeting will be held at the clubhouse, February 19th, with Mrs. G. C. Bailey as hostess. GEORGE STARMER AUXILIARY SEWING CLUB HAS MEETING The George Starmer auxiliary sewing club met at the home of Mrs. Hattie Reidell at 532 South Pine street Tuesday to sew for ' the Red Cross. Later, interesting games were led by Mrs. Pearl Shugart, chairman of the sewing group. Delicious refreshments were served at the tea hour by Mrs. Reidell to Pearl Shugart, Clara Xtarmer. Emma Taylor, Louise Dempsey, Irene Williams, Zanna Keller, Katie, Goldie and Mary . Milllkln, Myrtle Norwood, Le nore Bales, Wilma Reidell and Nettie Craig, members, and Mrs. -, Kinchloe, a guest. The next meeting will be held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Nettie Craig at 829 Reser voir avenue with Mrs. Lenore Bales as co-hostess. All members - are most cordially invited to at tend the meeting to assist in sew ing for the Red Cross. An Invitation is to be extended to Grand Guardian Minnie Hlner and team to conduct the installa tion ceremony. Local neighbors were pleased to note the grand guardian's pic ture in the Oregon Journal, as she handed the vice president of the U. S. National bank of Port land a check for $50,000 in ex change for Series G ; defense bonds. An interesting talk was given by G. N. Ethel Beaver on her re cent visit to the Eugene lodge. Refreshments and entertain ment foil the next meeting will be furnished by the losing side in the membership contest. All neighbors are urged to attend. FINE ARTS AND AMERICAN HOME DEPTS. MEET The combined Fine Arts and American Home departments of the Junior Woman's club ,met Wednesday evening at the home of -Mrs. Fred Dent with Mrs. Fletcher Gardner as co-hostess. The next meeting will be Feb ruary 25th at 8 o'clock in the evening at the home of Mrs. Clif ford.E. Smith with Miss Beatrice Cooney as co-hostess. A food sale was planned for Sat urday, February 21, to be held at Easton's grocery with Mrs. Carl Wassom as general chairman. At the close of themeeting, Mrs. Dent and Mrs. Gardner serv ed lovely refreshments to Mrs. Clifford E. Smith, Mrs. Perry Thiele, Mrs. Carl Wassom, Miss Beatrice Cooney, Mrs. Benjamin DuFresnc, Miss Patricia Turner, Miss Myrtle Erickson and Mrs. James E. Henbest. ; EASTERN STAR HAS INITIATION AND ' . ENJOYS PROGRAM Roseburg chapter of Eastern Star met Thursday evening at the Masonic temple with Mrs. S. J. Shoemaker, worthy matron, presiding. Initiation was held, after which Mrs. Homer Grow played two delightful piano solos and R. M. Church sang two very beautiful solos. Plans were made for a six thirty potluck supper to be held at the temple February 19th, at which time the DeMoiay mem bers will be special guests. A pro gram has been arranged for the evening to be presented by the Roseburg Men's Glee club. A so cial hour will follow the pro gram. NEW IDEA CLUB HAS LUNCHEON MEETING AT GILE HOME Mrs. R. L. Gile very graciously entertained the New Idea club at a delightful one o'clock luncheon at her beautiful home in Eden bower Wednesday afternoon. Early spring blossoms graced the table. Covers were placed for Mrs. Barton Helliwell, a guest, and Mrs. C. E. Marks, Mrs. F. H. Applehoff, Mrs. R. H. Williams, Mrs. F. M. Curtis, Mrs. V. R. Buckingham, Mrs. C. B. Calkins, Mrs. W. D. Harris and grand daughter, Judy Moore, and the hostess, Mrs. Gile, A short business meeting was followed by an enjoyable social hour. The February 18th meet ing will be a one o'clock luncheon at the home of Mrs. Harris. MRS. MARION FELTER COMPLIMENTED AT LARGE SHOWER PARTY Mrs. John M. Raishj Mrs. Floyd Wilson and Mrs. William Adair were hostesses at a very charm ing and large shower party Fri day afternoon honoring Mrs. Ma rion Feiter at the attractive Raish home at the veterans ad ministration facility post. Beautiful bouquets of carna tions formed a pretty motif for the party. Lovely gifts were pre sented to Mrs. Feiter from the twenty-two guests. At the tea hour the hostesses served deli cious refreshments. THETA RHO GIRLS CLUB HAS MEETING TUESDAY EVENING Alpha Zeta Theta Rho girls club met Tuesday evening with the ad visor, Ethel Easton, and assist ant, Mae Beaty, in charge. In the absence of the presidet, the meeting was condnucted 'by the vice-president, Mary Ann Sand sted. Daynise Beach, a member of the Rebekah committee, assist ed the girls, by being musician for the evening. Interesting top ics were discussed. Members re cently joining the club are espe cially urged to attend the next meeting of the organization. Pink and white carnations with taU lighted tapers and pink and white favors graced the large serving table, while small bou quets of pink snapdragons graced the smaller serving tables. B. Carter) A most unusual and interest ing Founder's Day tea was held at the Junior High school. Mon day evening, with all Parent Teacher Associations In the city participating.- Mrs. O. S. Cham bers, president of the Jr. Sr. High unit, presided, opening the meet ing with a flag salute led by boy scout Don DeBernardi. Leroy Hlatt led the group in singing "America the Beautiful." Mrs. Chambers welcomed the guests, introducing the presidents of local unts, Mrs. Don Radabaugh, Fullerton; Mrs. P. Hargls, Ben son, and Mrs. Roy Brulun, vice president of Rose, In the absence of their president Mrs. Ira Debolt Mann. A short business meeting was, held. Announcements on school activities were made by Mr. Beard and Mr. Brand. Of special interest was (lie National Assembly program of one-act plays, to be given February 25th, which Mr. Brand invited all to attend. . J. Roland Parker gave a short talk on gardening, clothes anu loods. An article in part was given by Mrs. F. Ramp from the National Parent magazine. A meeting of the County Council for February 14th was announced by Mrs. W. Culp. Mrs. Don Rada baugh called for volunteers to as sist . with their new project of hot lunches at Fullertoif. The ev ening's program was then turn ed over to Mrs. Carl Wimberly, program chairman and with Mrs. Clyde Board at the piano, Leroy Hiatt led in group singing of Auld Lang Syne. A most charm ing and Impressive candle light ing ceremony followed with Mrs. W. M. Campbell and Mrs. Alice Euland lighting candles, honor ing founders of the parent-teach er movement, past presidents, educators, youth and tiny tots of prescnool age. Honor guests of the tea were past presidents who were intro duced by Mrs. Wimberly. Of the Junior Senior high, Mrs. B. W. Maddox gave an interesting sum mary of early days, tree planting yard developing and various ac tivities of parent-teacher work. Others who responded were Mrs. R. D. Williams, a past state vice- president, Mr. J. E. Dent, Mrs. Louis Kohlhagen, Sr., Mrs. Harry tiatiiem, Mrs. F. Virden, Rev. Perry Smith, Mrs. J. Runyan and Mrs. C. Wimberly. Wimberly was a most gracious hostess at her home, "Pino Ridge," Monday eve ning, when she entertained her bridge club at a very lovely eight o'clock dessert-supper. A pretty pink and yellow motif was car ried out on the tabic by the use of a centerpiece of yellow daffo dils and pink heather sprays, flanked by smaller bouquets of pink and yellow primroses.
