Six Univers ity of Oregon students from Douglas county have been elect ed 'officers of university organi zations. They are I-len Kerr, Edgar Lewis, both of Rosoburg; Edward LawBOn, lilendale; Har vey McKee, Oakland; Butch Thompson, Reedsporl, and. John Wilson, Yoncalla. Miss Kerr has been elected treasurer of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the university. She is a sophomore majoring in busi ness administration and a gradu ate of Roscburg high school. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Kerr. She Is a mem ber of Phi Beta, music and drama honorary for underclass women. Lewis has been elected secre-tary-treasurer of Alpha hall, men's dormitory. He is a gradu ate of Roscburg iiigii school and a sophomore majoring in busi ness administration. He is the son of Mrs. E. S. Lewis. Lawson has been elected presi dent of Omega hall, men's dormi tory. He is a graduate of Glen dale high school and a Junior majoring in business administra tion. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Lawson. Thompson has been elected president of Sigma Chi fratern ity. He is a graduate of Reeds port high school and a Junior majoring In law. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. W, Thompson. Wilson has been elected presi dent of Zeta hall, men's dormi tory. He Is a graduate of Yon ' ealla high school and a sopho more majoring in business ad ministration. He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Wilson. McKee has been elected presi dent of Pi Kappa Alpha fratern ity at the university. He Is a graduate of Pacific military aca demy and a sophomore majoring In pre law. He is the son of Mr and Mrs. II. II. McKee. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sands, who were quite slek for a few days are Improving. Mrs. Jim Hunter and son, Glen, went to Eugene Thursday, where the former Is receiving medical aid. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sands en tertained Saturday evening with a quilling party, guests Invited were Mr. and Mis. George A.vers and daughter, Dniolhy, and son, Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth liarneberg, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parker, delicious refreshments were served to the group later in the evening. Mr. Salialla, who suddenly be some very ill, was removed from Ills home to Mercy hospital Wed nesday. Mrs. Virgil Smith spent Thins day visiting relatives In Oakland. Markham have been sewing and knitting for the Red Cross for the past two or three weeks. I Camas Valley CAMAS VALLEY, April 29. Slephen Combs is working at a logging camp up Rock creek. Willie Corder of Reedsport spent the weekend visiting friends here. Oewey and Geneva Huntley took him back to Heeds port Sunday, spending the day at the coast. Mrs. M. E. Lillie and Mrs. Mayher of Bandon spent several days last week at the home of Mrs. Lillie's daughter, Mrs. R. L. Martlndale. Jim Combs went down after them Sunday and J. K. and Oran Standley took them home Saturday. The men attend ed to business matters in Coos during the day. Mrs. Philip Packard is candling eggs two days a week for Mr. and Mrs. R. 10. McFall. Glenn Lamm, who worked for a week or two at the McFall place, has gone lo work at the Fish logging camp on the CCC road a short distance past the Bradford forestry station. He has the Job of "whistle punk," that a great many start in their logging career with. II Is, however, quite a responsible place as the Work Is sending the signals to anil from the woods by whistles. Charlie Parroll of Fort Worth, Texas, Is visiting at the home of his brother. Jack Parrott. It is the first lime the brothers have seen each other for forty-five years. Mr. and Mrs. W. II. Eckles spent Sunday al Dillard attend ing church and Sumlav school. Mr. Eckles draws an illustration of the Sunday school lesson with crayon which is displayed each Sunday on an easel, and follow ing the class period gives a very interesting and instructive sum mary of the day's lesson. Rev. Garbodin invited him to bring his picture and give his lalk for the Dillard Sunday school Sun day. Donald Rolh, who worked dur ing ine winter on a ranch neai Salem, Is home now and has ai job at the Johnson logging camp down the canyon. Sherman McBoe, of Hrockway, Chester Heixher and Harry Da vis, of Dillard, were enjoying a spectively. At the latter place Mrs. Thackrey visited with a sis ter, Mrs. Mullen, whom she had not seen for a long time. A California tourist returning south last Sunday afternoon, came to grief on a curve half way between the Hill Weaver ranch and Fitznatrlck's auto camo. Mr. and Mrs. A. M nail been enjoying ripe strawberries from their kitchen garden for two weeks or more. Mrs. R. M. Stearns of Klamath Falls was. a weekend visitor In Myrtle Creek. Mrs. Bess Cooper spent Sunday with Oakland friends. The funeral of Mrs Mattie Selig was attended by a large number of friends and relatives, j The ladies of the local chapter O. E. S. attended in a body and at ' ine graveside conducted their re gular funeral service. Out of town relatives attending were, Ernest Simmons, Shasta City, Calif., a brother; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vance, Ethel Vance and Mrs. Hazel Currier, a nephew and nieces, all nf Oakland raiif . Mrs. Bernice Simmons De Ross, Roseburg; Mr. and Mrs. Otis Clayton, Glendale Junction. The California relatives started on their return journey immediate ly following the funeral Monday afternoon. Mrs. Lilhe Sharpe had a birth day last Sunday and on Saturday afternoon, a group of neighbor ladies gave her a little party and a dime shower.
