Dorothea and Treva Alspaugh returned Thursday o Corvallls, where their mother, Mrs. Hoy Alspaugh is keeping house and sending her daughters to high school. Mr. nnd Mrs. Leonard Dyer en tertained at a waffle supper at their home Saturday evening, Boh Morris of Albany, and Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Trask. Miss Dorothy Trulovo left on the early stage Tuesday for Portland, after spending the holi days at her home here with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Bucll. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Trask nnd Mr. and Mrs. Glen Elliot and daughter, Barbara Ann, of Corviillls, and Boh Morris of Al bany, spent the Christmas holi days In Bedding, Calif., visiting relatives. Marjory Johnson, who Is em ployed with the J. K. Gill ami Compuny, Portland, had a few ilays vacation and spent the tlnvj here with her mother, Mrs. Madge Gazcly, anil family. Tho young people of the Meth odist church held a watch parly In the basement of the church Tuesday evening. Games were enjoyed anil refreshments were served. ' Mr. and Mrs. George Trask served a lovely turkey dinner on Christmas to Mr. Trask's sister and husband from Monroe, Mr. and Mis. Wayne Star, and Mr. and Mis. .lay Chancy. Mrs. Trask's brother, Alva Stafford., from Dunsnuiir, Calif., arrived Thursday for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Hart ltussell en tertained at a delicious 3 o'clock turkey dinner Christmas day. having as their guests their son nnd daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Flank Itnsscll. of Itice Hill, nnd Mr. nnd Mrs. Glenn 1 lusted, of Pistol Blver, and Mrs. Jane Knight. Frank and Glenn are boyhood friends, having come from Michigan several years , ago. and they are the same age, having the identical birthday as Ui day of month and year. The Odd Fellows and Itchckah lodges held a watch meeting Tuesday night, following the re gular meeting of the llchekuh lodge. Tile evening was spent playing card games with a lunch at 12 o'clock. .. Carl Zehrung, student at the Northwest Christian college, preached both morning and eve ning at the Christian church Sunday. Carl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Zchrung, reside on South Myrtle and he is a former graduate of the Myrtle) Creek high school. A number of his schoolmates were present to hear him preach his first sermon in the home church. Raymond Marchioll and Wil lis Goodmanson, who have been spending a ten-day furlough in Drain, each at the home of his parents, left Monday lor San Francisco where they have been stationed at Ft. Barry. , Miss rlamona Applegate of Portland visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Applegate, over Christmas and on Saturday left lor uuroank, Call!., lor a holiday visit. Ramona Is employed at the Lockheed airplane factory. She reports they now produce 3 bombers per day and employ 40, 000 men in the factory. Mrs. George Sundburg and children, Donald and Donna, spent several days this week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Bartholomy. Bob Miller of Creswoll . and Miss Gilma Endicott, who is now teaching In Baker, spent the holidays at the home of Mr. Mil ler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. W. Miller. Miss Betty La Grander spent the Christmas vacation at home and left Thursday to resume hei st tidies in Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vogler, Mrs. Jack Roach and daughters, Mary Lou and Joanne, spent the holi days in Eugene at the W. N. Wise home. Mrs. J. W. Beasley visited over the Christmas holidays In Eu gene at the homes of her three daughters. Miss Mildred Young went to Portland last Thursday to attend the O.S.T.A. and visiled friends. II. A. Cool and family spent Christmas at the home of Mrs Cool's mother, Mrs. Gilbert Old son. in Glendale. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Varley and son, Donald, spent Christmas at Salem and Mt. Angel visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bolts re turned home Sunday from a two weeks trip through California and various places in Texas where they visited relatives and friends. Frank St. Ores and wife of Reedeport came Sunday to visit their mother, Mrs. Fay St. Ores. A small blaze around the chimney in the office of the Drain Enterprise, just as tho pa per was going to press Thursday afternoon, caused slight damage as it was promptly extinguished by the city fire? department. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Whipple and Miss Dorothy Jerauld at tended the funeral of Rev. W. C. Cronk. aged 51, former Drain minister, who was killed in a rail road crossing accident Friday, Dec. 27th, at Tangent, where he was pastor of the Methodist church. The funeral was held at Albany on Monday. Interment was in a Salem cemetery. Tuesday for Delton Curtis Daniels, one-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred L. Daniels of Lee, Coos county, Oregon. The child died Jan. 5. The burial serv ice was conducted by the Rev. Melville T. Wire of Roseburg in the family plot at the Melrose cemetery.
