The South Umpqun Ladles club was most graciously entertained Wed nesday afternoon nt the homo of Mrs. Fritz Snyder with Mrs. Sny der, Mrs. Fete Ulam, Mrs; Ray j Wright, Mrs. Ivan Welch and Mrs, Maggie snyuer being noslusses. During the business moetlng at which the president, Mrs. John Ferguson presided it wus decided to can tomatoes for the school lunches between the flrst'and fif teenth of September. The work Is to be done in the school kitchen with Mrs. Ray Spencer In charge. Anyone having jars which they will lend for this project are re quested to leave them either nt the Days Creek store or with a member of the canning committee. If this is impossible they are re quested lo get in touch wlih one of the committee so that tho jars may bo picked up. The members of the committee nre Mrs. T. L. Weaver, Mrs. Carl Sumner. The Sutherlin Bridge club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Stearns at Oakland Wednesday ev ening, August 21. Contract bridge was enjoyed with Mrs. Hurry Steams winning high for ladies, and Lawrence Robertson high for men, . Mrs. Brlttain Slack won the ladies traveling prize and Vei n Hoi gnle won the traveling prize for the gentlemen.
