There Is a queer paradox in an administration purporting lo be the great liberal, people's govern iiipiiI, etc., handing down a decision lo transfer forest reerealton areas to the bureau that directs tin- na tional park service. These remai ks are based upon ohservulloti at Crater Lake and at Diamond Lake. These are the ureas In which we here in Douglas county are most interested, You must pay a dollar for per mission to drive your car into ('ra ter Lake park. You cannot carry a nun or do any hunting. Those who like lo ski are not permitted (o remove trees no as If) provide a tdti slide. Private summer homes are taboo. Hut tn the Diamond Lake dls trlct (it I under Ihe care or the forest service while Crater Lake Is nm tinged by the National Park Service) the atmosphere is entire ly different. A number of attrac tive summer homes are built near the lake and there Is room for it considerable number more. Hunt lug Is permitted. Thete Is no charge lor driving your car any place yon pleane. The forest serv ice ini'ii are not policemen bent on keeping you from doing something the rules say you may not rather they glc the impression that they waul to rce you enjoy the forest and the lake and seem lo he will inn to do anything they can lor you lo help you have n good lime.
