LACE MAKES PARIS COMEBACK WITH COLORS AND PATTERN F 1 ( J 1 Jr 1 ; 4 1 A - . , . . i,, f i m. ' w. fit. -a L. liy HDtSKI'll-; HAUtimVK , NKA Service Stuff Correapondent PARIS. Practically every uuki succumbs to the charm of u lace gown. Women who realise this al ways Include one iu their wardrobe, which is why lace is such a perennial fashion favorite. Where formerly the only alternative to a black lace dress was a white one, today there is a wide range of colors to choose from. Recent collections included handsome reds, greens, browns and blues which struck an altogether new note, alternating with the most delicate pastel shades of these colors. Kurthermore. the newest patterns have borrowed their ideas fiom prints besides reviving some of the old designs of Cliantllly. rose ami Venetian points. Lace can be made up into the most formal and dramatic of evening gowns, just as it can fashion the simple, practical, easy-to-vvear number, the sort of thing you can pack In a week-end has and know that it resists all wrinkling. The niiil-seasou collections offered both types, from Paquin's picturesque basqued gowns of Vales quez inspiration to l.elong's long-sleeved dinner dress with box-pleated skirt and jabot -front bodice. Perfect for a debutante's coming out party is Chanel's white lace model, of Spanish inspiration this time. The skirt is made of graded flounces, tightly pleated, edged wit h plain white net which is pulled out at the hem. The note of sophistication is found in the' soft and rather wide straps of vivid green faille which cross over the denuded back and tie in a large, "ingenue" bow at the waistline.
