Ihe Pine Mountain Lumber Co. owned and operated by L. A Daly and sons, have the new saw mill near the 8. P. depot nearing completion and plan to be ready to btin sawing by July 1. Howard Velzain, who was tak en suddenly ill the first of the week, was taken to the hospital Tuesday. Mrs. J. P. Brill, who has been sick for several months, is making rapid recovery. Badger, of Timber, has bid I In the Myrtle Creek station and will soon lie here to relieve J. ti. Schroll, who ha been supplying at this station for several months while George Godfrey, the agent has been out because of illness. Mr. and Mrs. Badger will soon move to Myrtle Creek and take over the work here. The opening of the Louie creek road on South Myrtle promises to become quite an important project to this section of the country. The county court has announced that it will complete the remuiniitg three miles of road needed to connect the North and South Myrtle mar ket roads, as soon us funds are available. This would make a rural muil service possible besides open ing up some valuable timber laud and adding to ihe conveniences of local settlers in many other ways. Evangelist C. J. Kider of the Seventh Day Adventist church is conducting revival services in a large tent on East Johnson street. Meetings began May 26, and will be held each night except Mon day. Children s day will be observed at the Methodist church Sunday, .May dl, by a program at 11 o'clock by ihe Sunday school pupils, fol lowed by a basket dinner. Hev. Gleutou, pastor of the M. E. church, Somh, In Hoscburg, will preach iu the afternoon. There will be no further service during the day. The dance sponsored by the jun iors and seniors at the high school last Friday nighi was a pleasant affair and wus well attended. Pa trons and patronesses were Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Reynolds and Mr. and Mrs. George Trask. Rehearsals of the play "Deacon Dubbs," being prepared by the young people of the Christian church, are moving along toward completion and the date for pro duction will soon be announced. Although severul of the players do not completely know their lines. and the play needs a great deal of polishing, yet the occasional vis itors who have been invited lo list en in, nave derived a great deal of amusement from the presenta tion.
