MOKSK. dairy Hpeciallsl " with Ihe extension service of the Oregon State Agricultural col logo, gave the Kiwanis club this week some Interesting data on the Oregon dairying industry. It was gueet day at tho Kiwunis club and each member brought a farmer as his guest. There were a number of farmers present but It Is too bad that all of tho dairymen In this county did not hear that talk. There is no real danger of over production In Oregon at this time, Mr. Morso said. The increase in population during the last decade was 9.4 percent while during Hie same period the number of cows Increased but 9.1 percent. So long as this balance is maintained, our dairymen have somo price advan tage but should the ratio begin to i go tho other way the evils of over production would soon become ap parent. The three factors necessary to success la the dairy business as told by Mr. Morso are: 1. Good sensible careful manage ment. 2. High test cows or proven abil ity. 3. Cheap home-grown feed. The first factor Is purely a per sonal one, Good management is just as easy of accoinpllnhnient as bad management but. sludy ami hard work and hard thiuking are necessary. It Is easy lo say that it Is neces sary to havo high test cows of proven ability. How can Ihe pro duction of a cow be accurately de termined, you might auk. Mr. Morse has an answer.
